This character doesn't have a proper name. I think the key clue is the 4th wall clue. This character would address the main character and would use symbolism not from the time period and context of the film but also from the real modern era that the audience could relate to.
And let me clarify, the movie has a lot of music and singing but may not necessarily be an actual musical. There is a broadway adaptation that is most definitely a musical. I'm sorry if I misdirected anyone.
