Is this where the little gondola boat is in the water?

No, that's in front of the Italy pavilion. The Germany boat ride show building *was* built, but never used. What was going to be the entrance for the queue was a big door inside of what is now the Biegarten.

Oh okay. Now that makes more sense. Do you know why no rides were built? Just lack of funds?

Still looking for an answer to #2:
2) What year did Mickey's very Merry Christmas Party debut at Florida's Magic Kingdom?
Then we'll get to more questions
Oh - and about the Illuminations question: Connoisseur was correct with his/her/their answer All the rest were correct answers as well.

I'll have a go with 1996 when the Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Parade replaced Mickey's Christmas Cavalcade

MainStreetJim - was the answer to the debut of MVMCP correct? If not then I think that you've beaten us.
In the meantime here's a set of 5 brain teasers
1) Which sculptor is credited for the Partners statue?
2) Where in Disneyland (Calif.) did Walt have an apartment?
3) In 1983, Disney Imagineer Tony Baxter came up with the idea for which attraction?
4) Who came up with the line "If we can dream it, we can do it"?
5) What is the connection between the film "Xanadu" and Disney Hollywood Studios?

1) Blane Gibson.
2) Above the Fire Department.
3) Big Thunder Mountain Railroad.
4) Walt Disney. Used more recently from Father on Horizons.
5) The entranceway? The structures that look like a skate-rink.

The very first MVMCP was held on December 16, 1983.

Nope. Big Thunder Mountain debuted in California in 1979 and in Florida in 1980. Hmmm...I'm finding two Tony Baxter Imagineering projects for 1983: The "new" Fantasyland for Disneyland in California, and (the original) Journey Into Imagination at EPCOT Center.

Nope. Walt Disney, obviously, had been long gone by then. Tom Fitzgerald wrote the line specifically for Horizons at EPCOT. I have a link to Dave Smith (Disney archivist) if anyone wants to check it out
From Dave Smith: Despite its frequent publication, that is *not* a Walt Disney quote. We checked with Imagineer Tom Fitzgerald for the definitive answer: "I am very familiar with that line because I wrote it! It was written specifically for the Horizons attraction at Epcot and used in numerous ways, from dialogue in the ride to graphics. I find it amusing that the Science of Imagineering DVD series attributes it to Walt Disney, but I guess I should be flattered."

You're correct about the structure but do you know the building in LA?

The attraction that I'm after had its Disneyland opening in 1989
