Default Block Party Bash Leaving DHS

I just read that Block Party Bash will leave DHS in January 2011.

Does anyone know what will replace it?

I heard it's being replaced with "The Disney Shareholder & Executive Bonus Parade"

They're going to roll carts past the guests that are filled with the money they saved by doing away with the parade.

Jay Rasulo is not in charge of Disney Parks anymore, or else I would go along with you.

Actually, from some good sources, Block Party Bash is leaving. And no, I am not happy. I really liked that parade. As for a replacement, I am betting it will be Pixar related.

Wow, that was a really short stay. Wish they'd boot some other shows/parades before BPB.

    Confirmed:

Is it ok to link to Disney Parks Blog?

Disney/Pixar fans, we’ve got some great news to share today. The entertainment team at Walt Disney World Resort is in the midst of developing a new parade for Disney’s Hollywood Studios featuring some favorite Pixar pals. While details are still being worked out, we do know that four Pixar characters not currently seen at Disney’s Hollywood Studios – Remy and Emile from “Ratatouille” and Carl and Russell from Disney/Pixar’s “Up” – will be added to the lineup.

For those who want to be sure to celebrate the last dance with their favorites from Block Party Bash, make sure to mark January 1 for the final performance. The new show is scheduled to open January 16. Keep your eye on the blog for more future parade updates.

That's too bad... we really enjoyed that parade. In fact, I think my DH & I enjoyed it more than our girls because of the music!

I am actually ok with this, I prefer traditional parades over the "block party style" like Bash and Move It, Shake It, Celebrate It. Sounds like the new parade will still feature Pixar characters but perhaps more recent ones. Looking forward to learning more as details are revealed

Bummer bags.... I like Block Party Bash... Thankfully I have it on DVD... Wonder what the new music will be like... In my opinion, this seems to be typical of entertainment/TDO.. Same floats, added characters, new music and BAM.. new parade.. The new music in this case is the music from Pixar Play Parade in DCA...

Sigh. I wish they would just bring DSMC back (I miss that parade).

    My theory...

American Idol is hemorrhaging money and bringing nothing to the park. I'm sure they are keeping it around for only 2 reasons. 1, it would go down as one of the quickest/biggest budget failures in theme park history...dwarfing Universal's Creature From The Black Lagoon...and 2, they probably have a complicated deal signed with FOX that they can't/choose not to break.

Imagine how much money you save when you cut a parade that involves daily, 6 equity and upwards of 16 outside contracted stunt performers.

My understanding is they are using some of the same floats, adding a few new characters from other Pixar movies, using Pixar Play Parade or whatever the name of that parade is music... Doesn't sound like they are cutting anything... I just don't like how they use the same floats, add a few characters, change the music, change the name, and have the gall to say it is brand spanking new... It's not.. LOL...

Equity Green Army Men and Acro are out.

    But...they are replacing it.
Yes but with a character only parade...which will save money. Keep in mind that every Equity actor that you see in a parade, or every stunt performer costs not only WAYYYYYY more pay scale wise, but also insurance, union dues etc. etc.

By "revamping" the parade and reverting to a character cast only they will save millions over the course of a run. Smart move on their part truth be told...though not a move to my liking.

Notice in Pirate and Princess they no long have stunt pirates on the ship...but characters...trust me when I say they are saving a bundle by doing this. But the main point of my post was to pinpoint why, and my thought is to make up for the complete failure of American Idol.

My DW and I saw it on our anniversary trip in May, and thought it was a lot of fun. So the Green Army Men and the performers on the trampoline are paid performers? I always thought that the parade performers were cast members that had "other" talents. I remember being surprised that they could pull that off with existing talent. Being paid performers makes sense....just never occurred to me.

Curious ... is AI really doing that poorly? The one and only time I saw it, my family and I really enjoyed it and the theater was pretty packed.

WOOOHOOOOO! I'm pretty happy about this news. I saw the BPB at DCA and I hated it. They moved it to WDW and I still hated it. In fact, I skipped it completely on my last trip. I'd rather watch an apple brown than ever watch this parade again.

It was never really a parade. My kids would get agitated waiting for it, as it would stop just 25 feet from us for 10 minutes. Then it would roll by and we'd get to see the tail end of all the dancers. I prefer a real parade - you know, where character actually "parade" by and wave at all the kids. If we wanted a dance party, we'd go to the nearest Nickelodeon Theme Park.

Two Green Army Men, maybe 3? The Acro's were for the Block Party. The new parade will not be a block party so no need for acro's. Wasn't the bear from TS3 recently added? Now they are adding Remy and Carl. I am looking at this as replacing Green Army Men with Remy and Carl.

How much of a failure is American Idol? The two shows I saw in person were packed, including the last performance of the night.

Same here Ian. The first show I saw I really liked so I went back and saw the final performance, which was even better. Both shows were near capacity, if not at full capacity. I am not defending American Idol as I hate the TV show, but the attraction isn't terrible as other people want to continue to say.

Glad to hear this is leaving. The Block Party Bash was not fun at all. The music wasn't good and unless you were right next to it, there was no way to feel a part of the it. However I do like the street party at MK.
