Seriously, Hamels is a tough nut to crack...claims at last years' parade he wants to do it again, and again, and again...and then proceeds to banquet circuit it up in the offseason, while guys like Ryan Howard work on improving their fielding skills and dropping pounds.

I'd be willing to put that aside for a Lee-esque performance tomorrow night..pretty much know Pettite's going to bring it.

Each of the last four Christmas mornings I've run to the tree expecting Eva Langoria in a jacuzzi with a bow wrapped around her....but alas...the Fat Man let me down again.

Question from last night: What did everyone think about the rap performance with Jay-Z & Alicia Keys last night? I think the song fits New York, it's a pretty cool song, and the Yanks have played it all during the playoffs, but wouldn't "New York, New York" by Sinatra be a better family friendly choice?

If nothing else, Cole's been quite the pitch man for Comcast Triple Play...I'm stoked to know he can speak to his grandmom in San Diego anytime he wishes...maybe Granny can remind him of what he was in '08.

As a employee of Comcast as well as he is pushing the software I work on (Triple Play applications), I would be fine if we went back to using the Slowskys for advertising!

I like "Empire State of Mind" but didn't tune in to see the performance. I think Jeter has been using it as his entrance music. A local Philly rapper has his own version on youtube, "Ill State of Mind" which is good. Jay-Z performed in Philly last week and a bunch of Phillies went to the show. He commented that in a week or so they wouldn't be lovin him too much

Wow...that's almost as bad as the pic I saw of James Hetfield of Metallica in khaki shorts and mandals carrying the shopping bag from Armani.

Again ... I see it as different since they spent the bulk of that money signing their own players.

Think of it this way ... the Phillies had to scout, draft, recruit, etc. the majority of their highly paid talent. What this did was, it allowed them to build a solid core of great players, get people excited about the team, start coming out to games again, raising revenues, and then allowing them to sign their homegrown players to long-term deals.

So what you saying is that Philadelphia fans only pay attention (ie. spend money and raise team revenue) on their team when they are winning.

Whereas Yankee fans always pay attention (ie. spend money and raise team revenue )on their team whether they are winning or not, hence the fact they always have money to spend.

Eh ... it's chicken and egg ... maybe the Yankees have been good for so long their revenue stream is self-sustaining at this point. There is, however, little doubt that the Phillies were awful for decades and people stopped following them.

But hey, I mean you can't expect fans to hang in forever. Although Eagles' fans do, which I don't really get but ...
