Well the truth is, the family has made millions and millions of dollars by now.
If they didn't make another red cent for the rest of their lives the kids still wouldn't be deprived of any of that stuff.
Assuming they were wise financially and invested it. Somehow, my guess is that they zip through money pretty quickly. Would not suprise me a bit to see that house for sale in a year or two because they can't afford it without the money from the show!
Hopefully, someone with some common sense has trust funds set up for each of the kids and a healthy portion of each show goes into the funds.

I didn't have time to read through all of the responses on this thread but I've heard new news on J&K.
Supposedly, according to public records the couple have actually been legally seperated for two years.

I doubt it, because they really don't pay for anything anymore.
Most of their trips, purchases, etc. are all sponsored. Most of their money probably goes right in the bank.

I just read a clarification of this online...
Turns out, though, when Kate or her people filled out the divorce papers, they checked the option that stated the couple has lived separate and apart for two years. That would allow for a divorce pretty soon.
But checking that option just means she has to wait, or has already waited, two years since deciding the marriage was over and they were living separate lives. Even sleeping in different bedrooms could prove they had separate lives and would allow for the divorce to take place right away.
She also checked the option which requires a 90 day period after the papers have been served. Meaning, after 90 days, once she and Jon agree the marriage is over, the divorce can take place.
Basically she checked every option available to get the quickest option for a divorce.

I seem to remember it being a big deal because that house and the land were paid for in cash. They are LOADED -- and Kate is still getting money from her books and speaking engagements...

I was just sitting here flipping thru the channels (during the Mets rain delay) and my 7 yr old DS said, "wait, let's watch the kids in those houses". He use to like watching the little kids, as we did, and we watched because of them, not because of the parents. We were watching for 2 minutes and I had to change it because there was Jon and Kate talking about how they don't hate each other, etc. etc. It is unfortunate that a show that use to be family friendly, and we were able to watch it with our kids, has become a circus. I would bet that's how the kids must feel about now.....

Interesting choice ... you could either watch a marriage disintigrate or a Major League Baseball franchise disintigrate!

Ditto... I've started to realize the same things as you guys. Actually, last night in particular while I sat at the laundromat cursing dbf for permanently staining just about every article of clothing he owns (MEN!) I realized where Kate went wrong and what I need to keep in mind - would I rather have to deal with the stains on his clothes and all of the other little things and have him and be happy, or be alone because me and my OCD-neat-freak-perfectionism-control-freak-ness drove him away? It's unfortunate, but she really has become a lesson in how not letting go of the little things can alter your life.

OMG I would have done the same thing before Monday. But AFTER Monday, I would just ask him to be more careful(not that it's going to happen, but I can wish). I hope that more people are changing if they are as OCD as Kate. Cause the little things aren't worth it if you lose the things you love.

I kinda remember her getting all upset at Jon and everybody else because the little ones (age 2) were eating ice cream and it was getting on them. They were at Disney World...I laughed a bit wondering what 2 year old does NOT end up getting the ice cream all over them...That's sorta what they're supposed to do. Jon's attitude was more of "don't worry about it we'll hose them down later"...that did NOT sit right with Kate at all.
Maybe Kate will sit down one day and watch things.
I wonder what happened on Father's day that was the "clincher" that it was "over".
My favorite saying that kinda fits well...

I thought it was weird that they didn't have any wipes! I always carry those even though my baby is 5. And she freaked out about barefeet in the hotel room. Kind of sad to think about that WDW episode now with everything that's happened and how they said "we'll have to come back someday".

Ditto too. Only for me, it would have turned from the stains into "another" annoying thing. What started off as stains on his shirt would have ended in....."and put the dishes in the dishwasher and not in the sink two inches from it." (Ha-Ha). Poor guys. Maybe we should print out a copy of this thread and leave it in their sock drawer as a mild admission of guilt. What started off as Jon & Kate Plus 8 is now Kate with no Mate. So, on a serious note, I restate that I was touched by the show and hope to change my way of thinking.
I did see on TODAY that she did an interview with people and stated that it was Jon who wanted the divorce and it hit her like punch in the stomach. It also stated on the show that she curled up and cired for days on end. She is on the cover of the next issue of people but I have not seen it yet.

I really do think that it was all Jon in this. If you really watch Kate, you can see she is torn apart. While I don't condone her for her actions(some was taking too far), I feel sorry for her. I really think that she had the rug pulled out from under her in Feb when this all started happening. I'd like to read the new article with her in People cause it will tell a lot of the story from what I saw on People.com. I just want to know how the kids are taking it, and Kate explains this in there too.
Side note...My son was watching the Wonder Pets last night. I heard a small part wrong, that they were saving the Goslings but I heard Gosselins. I turned to hubby and said the Gosselins sure could use the Wonder Pets to save them now.

If Kate was, in fact, shocked by this, it just goes to show that she's as selfish, self-centered, and arrogant as she appears on the show.
Anyone and everyone watching could see that she was just horrible to Jon and nearly impossible to live with. I said like 2 years ago, "Man, I can't believe he hasn't left her yet!! She's a complete (w)itch!!"
I don't feel sorry for her at all. She made her bed. She sold her family out for money and fame and now it's all come home to roost on her. She's gotten exactly what she deserves.

Ian, my husband says exactly the same! Especially the middle paragraph. And good luck during the teen years!

I have to say I do feel sorry for Kate I believe she was somewhat genuine in her hurt and surprise.
As to her personality I doubt she woke up the day after the wedding and became a different person, they were dating for some time first as well. If you aren't mature enough to decide that the person you are marrying has traits you can't live with than your not ready for that commitment (regardless of if those traits are making your clothes dirty by looking at them, or freaking out over ice cream spills).
Personally I'm well aware that I'm a wee bit control oriented. Pretty sure my DH knows it too. But we've discussed the choices we've made (as I'm sure they did, you don't think he came home and went gee honey who are these folks with the cameras do you?) and many of them aren't standard to the normal curve (for instance we've moved our family several times for us to further my career and at several times we've had him stay home with our son, I've travelled extensively for business and will continue to do so).
Would I want my universe to be on film? Not likely but then I don't think anyone is going to offer me 75K for me and or my husband to do it either..and if they did I'm guessing we'd likely say yes. Especially if we kept dealing with layoff's as they did and had as many small children with diapers etc to pay for.
Bottom line it's never all one person's fault is it?

I think it comes down to the fact that there are always 2 sides to every story and from what I've seen I think both Jon and Kate have gotten themselves to where they are today. And the sad part of this is that they aren't the only couples blindly inflecting pain on each other and ruining their families. The only difference from the poeple I personally know who have gone this route are that they aren't on TV, in the news, on the magazine covers at the supermarket and being discussed on the internet. Did they put themselves in this position? You bet. Do I have much sympathy for either of them? No. My only hope is that the children hold up under all of this.
BTW, I just read this morning that Kate is still wearing her wedding rings, as she doesn't want the kids to know something is wrong. Is she serious? They haven't noticed that Mommy and Daddy are never at home together? Give me a break kids are smarter than that.
