Coral Reef RestaurantThe information on this site may not be reproduced in any form on the Internet without express written permission from EDC. The Coral Reef Restaurant features a quiet, relaxed atmosphere and a variety of seafood. Located to the right of the main entrance to The Living Seas is a walkway that leads to the glass door entrance to the restaurant. (That walkway also connected to CommuniCore West until Innoventions replaced CommuniCore and the walkway was removed.) Just inside the original restaurant entrance was a hallway with benches lining the curving walls. Two monitors displayed the restaurant menu. At the end of the hallway was a counter where guests would check in and would be called up to be seated. Inside, four large windows allowed guests a view of the sea life swimming by in the main Coral Reef tank. Tables were arranged along four tiers to allow everyone a view of the windows. The restaurant closed on August 10, 1998 for a major renovation. However, during the renovation period, the restaurant continued to operate in The Living Seas VIP lounge. The regular restaurant reopened on September 14. The $1.5 million renovation brought the priority seating/check-in counter right up front to the left of the entrance. Bright colored broken tiles replaced the carpet and lighted panels line the walls. The brighter atmosphere is carried through to the dining room which still has the tables aligned on tiers.
