brownie's Disney World Weekend Trip Pre-trip
I had consulting work to do in Winter Haven and Lakeland, FL from Wednesday, March 28-Friday, March 30, 2012. I extended my through the weekend so I could spend a couple days at Walt Disney World.
I was able to get an advance dining reservation for Raglan Road for Friday night prior to heading down but could not get anything for T-Rex Cafe. My work partner, Curt, had never been to Walt Disney World and I was trying to get him to some places that his kids might enjoy.
Wendy from Magical Journeys hooked me up with a room a Pop Century and made arrangements for Curt to use Magical Express to get to the airport on Saturday morning (he wasn't going to the parks with me.)
We finished up our work on Wednesday, March 30 at about 3:30pm, so we decided to make the drive up to Downtown Disney after we got back to our hotel and changed out of our work clothes.
I tried on the way one last time to get advance dining reservations for T-Rex but there was still nothing available. We decided to take our chances. We got to Downtown Disney around 5pm and checked-in at T-Rex and were seated right away! Curt didn't bring a camera so he had me taking pictures of everything so he could show his kids. I had the Porkasaurus sandwich and the Ice Age Indulgence and Curt had the Paleozoic chicken sandwich. Everything was very good.
After dinner we explored Downtown Disney. I picked up some t-shirts for my boys and a convertible bag for my bride at World of Disney.
We headed over to Winter Summerland. I've never played any of the miniature golf courses at Disney World, and really enjoyed playing the courses. The cast members recommended the sand course, so that's the one we played. It was fun and I really liked the theming elements. Curt beat my by 5 putts.
After finishing our round of miniature golf, we headed over to the Boardwalk to catch what we could of Illuminations. We watched from the bridge that crosses over by the Beach Club Villas.
When Illuminations was finished, we headed back to our car and returned to our hotel in Haines City.
