DCL Has Announced - NOT building two new ships
Instead, they are building THREE new ships !
It was announced at D23 today that the three new ships will be delivered in 2021, 2022 and 2023. The ships are expected to be slightly larger than Dream and Fantasy, and will be powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG) instead of bunker oil.
Names have not been announced, nor have homeports. Let the speculation begin !
This will bring the fleet to 7 ships, and raises the possibility of many new itineraries.

I bet they have a dedicated ship for ROW / Asia-Pacific. Personally, I'd like to see a dedicated port in Hawaii! Hopefully they provide bigger pools for the new ships. The pools on the Dream are too small for that many people!

The pool issue is not an easy one to solve. A cubic foot of water weighs 62.43 pounds. Multiply that by the volume of water contained in the pools and hot tubs (don't forget the ones in the spa and certain concierge suites) and the water in AquaDuck and you're putting a LOT of weight on the upper decks, which affects the center of gravity and the overall stability of the ship. The taller the ship, the smaller the pools must be, unless they make the ships much wider (more beam width) and/or deeper (increased draft) to offset the stability issue. And if you make the ships wider or deeper, you're reducing the ports, canals and bridges the ship can handle. No easy solution unless you bring the pools lower by either reducing the number of decks or finding a way to put the pools on one of the lower decks.

This is exactly the thing I try not to think about when I'm on the top deck.
