Default Family Throw Back Trip Day 2

    March 7-12

Cast: Myself, wife and mom of 3, and trip planner
    Disney Sister, Christy,
    Disney Mom, Sue,
    Disney Dad, Charlie

We were up and out early to do the EMH at DHS. We made it right after rope drop and headed for TSMM. It was a brief wait and I could bring my scooter in the line. Fun ride as always! We headed over to TOT and rode a couple times. TOT may be my all time favorite ride anywhere. I can ride it over and over, not feel andy motion sickness, but still get the thrill every time. LOVE that ride! We rode RRC, another favorite. (we are all thrill ride people) Both were less than 15 minute lines. I will say RRC was a little tricky with the boot. Getting in and out and sitting comfortably during the ride was not easy...but totally worth it. These rides were when we learned the one thing that I found that Disney needs to fix for guests who require a wheel chair in the line. Some lines do not accomodate the scooter. But i could not stand or walk the distance of the line. I probably could have if that one or 2 rides was all I would have had to do all day, but over the course of the day, and the vacation, all those times of standing for 20 minutes or so would have taken a huge toll.
Anyway, when you have to leave your scooter, they give you a wheelchair to borrow for the ride. However, the wheelchairs they often have have seen better days. Many had flat tires, or wheels that would get stuck. And many of those lines have hills or areas that are not easy to negotiate with a wheelchair. Disney needs to do a better job having chairs that are in better repair for their guests, even if they are only using them for a short time.
If I had had to push my dad in those chairs up hills and around sharp corners, I'm not sure if I could.
Anyway, we left so we could make our fp+'s at Animal Kingdom. (We did a lot of park hopping this trip) Caught a bus quickly to AK, our fp+'s worked great! They were true fast passes...no waiting once we were in that line. This is how it was for 95% of our fp+ rides. We did everything we wanted to do at AK, yummy lunch at Flame Tree as always, and did some wandering around. As we were wandering we decided to head back over to DHS to see Fan tasmic. It had been many years since any of us had seen it and we had time.
So back to DHS we went. I noticed my scooter was acting strangely, and by the time we got the the hill that led to the Fantasmic stage, it stopped altogether. Strangely, it didn't show that the battery was that low... We got it up the hill, and to a place where it could charge during the show. The show itself was a little underwelming. It needs an update, in my opinion. But I'm glad we saw it. After the show, we headed back to the buses and to our room for bed. I remember stopping for dinner somewhere in DHS before we got on the bus. We were tired. It was food. Nothing extraordinary. ANother great day!
    It's not easy being green....

I am with you - ToT is my favorite

Happy to hear that hopping to AK and using your FPs worked seamlessly - and then back to DHS for Fantasmic. Sadly i agree with you again - Fantasmic is due for a major sprucing up. Sounds like another fabulous day ... Thanks for sharing!

It's nice to hear that the fastpass plus lines are short! I remember waiting 65min in the fastpass line of Splash Mountain, and 3 hrs in the non fastpass line. We won't ever do that again!
