Default Crystal Palace...still a good choice?

It's been a while since we have been to the Crystal Palace for dinner. The first 2 times we loved it but I seem to remember the last time...not so much.

We are spending a whole day at MK in January and thought this might be a good way to wind things up and have dinner while the fireworks are happening in the background.

How is the food these days?

I think the food is fine, but to us, the character meals are too distracting. We would still do it again.

We have eaten there on almost every trip over the past 10 years or so and CP has never posed a problem. Not 5-star dining mind you but plenty of choices wth Poo characters to boot

A year ago, it was pretty good. If you're looking for character interaction, this is the place. If you want better food, my preference is for Liberty Tree, Be Our Guest, or Tony's.

We ate dinner at CP this summer and all enjoyed. If you go, don't overlook the soups. I liked them enough to go back for 2nds. Hard to find better character photo ops. Photos from CP made our calendar and Christmas Card this year. My son notes if your table is at or very close to the windows, you should have a clear view of the fireworks. But note with window seats east of the entrance there is about a 10 foot wide porch and roof that may limit upward viewing. To the west of the entrance, the windows had green awnings above them (at least in summer they did) that may also limit skyward visibility unless you are right at the windows.

My last experience with the crystal palace was in June. The food was the same as it was every year that we have eaten there. Our service was terrible. As a family all together we are a party of 6. Our waitress knew that it was an automatic gratuity. We barely saw her. I came very close to refusing the automatic gratuity with management. Two out of four of the characters skipped over us causing us to be there longer than we should have been.
