We go to WDW for our anniversary 5-6 nights every year between Feb. 1 and 10. We've never noticed heavy attendance. We'll be there Feb. 3-9 so we'll see how it goes this year. We booked our resorts and dining months ago. Thank goodness we didn't need to make changes! Sounds like we would be out of luck.
Have a great trip everyone!
Nancy

I don't think that any convention or special event around this time period is going to be a factor as it relates to crowds at DisneyWorld. It's not like these events are Disney sponsored.

It all depends on the size of the conventions going on but there are often large ones at the Orange County Convention Center this time of year. The current one is the Automobile Dealers Association which is a large one. The Homebuilders Association alternates between Orlando and Las Vegas and this year it is in Las Vegas but it is a huge one when it is in Orlando. It draws over 50,000 attendees and has had over 100,000.
I have been to a couple of the large conventions and after around 2:00 we all converged upon WDW. The parks, especially Magic Kingdom, would get busy in the afternoons and evenings and everywhere you looked were people still wearing their convention lanyards. There was also a special convention night Disney Sponsored at Magic Kingdom that had special convention tickets where the park closed early around 7:00 PM and the park was only open to convention attendees with the hard ticket for an additional 3 hours. On that day in particular everyone started leaving the convention early at lunch and going to Magic Kingdom.
Also, another thing to consider is that the convention attendees' families often travel down with them and they go to the parks during the day while the father/mother is at the convention. My wife and kids went to the parks every morning when I left to go to the convention and then I would meet up with them later that afternoon.

Glad you got something. Just FYI for others or next time--if you're a teacher or a nurse you can sometimes get great deals with that discount at Swan or Dolphin. Super nice resorts! Not officially Disney so no dining packages...
