Default dining plan with annual pass?

Can we add the dining plan to a room only that isn't an AP discount room if we have APs? I hope that made sense. Basically we have APs but weren't able to get the resort we wanted with a AP rate but could book with the recently discounted rate. Can we still add the dining plan?

No, you can only do dining plan as part of a package with tickets and room (or if you are a DVC member staying on points). Sorry!

Yes you can. We have annual passes and add the dining plan. Of course since they are not offering free dining, you have to pay(I do believe you get a break). If they offered free dining, you have to buy a two day ticket for each person.
We just purchased the dining plan with an annual passholder discount for the room.
Your attention please, the Walt Disney World Railroad is now boarding for a trip around the Magic Kingdom

Is this something new then? It keeps referring to a MYW package which requires tickets and room. It doesn't say anything about annual passholders. Here's what Intercot has in the info section:

"Guests who have booked a stay at a Disney Hotel via a Magic Your Way Vacation Package are eligible to purchase a Disney Dining Plan at an additional cost.

The plan must be purchased for all Guests (ages 3 and over) vacationing on the same Magic Your Way Vacation package.

The plan can not be purchased for Guests under the age of 3.

The Disney Dining Plan can only be purchased for the entire length of the Magic Your Way Vacation Package.

Guests staying at the Walt Disney World Swan, Walt Disney World Dolphin, Shades of Green Hotel, and Downtown Disney Resort Area Official Hotels are not eligible to purchase the plan.

Disney Vacation Club Members are eligible to purchase the Disney Dining Plan at the add-on price per Guest when staying at a Disney Vacation Club Resort at Walt Disney World (this excludes Disney's Hilton Head Island Resort and Disney's Vero Beach Resort) with-out purchasing a vacation package.

Members must book the Dining Plan in advance of arrival and it must be purchased for the entire travel party (ages 3 and over) for the entire length of stay.

Disney Vacation Club Members can call Member Services to add the plan to their reservation. "

We have APs and just added the dining plan. It can be done but we had to wait until they offered a AP room special.

So it is just with an AP discounted room? Thinking I may just keep one night stay in the resort my son wants so bad for the pool and then book with the AP discount wherever. Thanks! I knew you could add dining with an AP because we did it last year but it was with an AP discounted room. I would have asked on the chat with a vacation specialist that pops up on the WDW site but I found out really quick that sometimes they don't know everything....last week I was telling them information I had learned on here....

You can add dining to an AP discounted room for sure. I did it last fall. I just didn't know if you could add it if it wasn't an AP discounted room. If you look on the passholder link from the wdw site it has a room only or room/dining option. We just didn't have a room that was AP discounted this time because we were going to get our passes when we go and I had them already last time.

AP holders can book the Disney Dining Plan without buying park tickets, and this is true whether or not they got a discount on their resort room.

However, AP holders DO NOT qualify for the FREE Disney Dining Plan promotions unless they buy at least the minimum ticket requirement just like everyone else (and the same goes for DVC owners staying on points).

Ok, question on this... the minimum tickets would not have to be used during this trip correct? For example, I have a AP this year but not planning on renewing it next year, I would be able to use this ticket on a future trip?

Yes, they can be used for future trips as long as you NEVER use them during your current stay. You can even use them to upgrade to an annual pass or to renew your annual pass.
    I LOVE DISNEY WORLD!!!!!
A dream is a wish your heart makes and mine came true when I retired here in December 2014! I go to a park at least once a week!
