5 adults in one room - where to stay?
I am trying to gather a group of friends for a WDW vacation and I think staying on-site is a plus. However, we are all very conscious of costs. I have been looking into the POFQ and POR but their room capacity stops at 4 adults.
Can we save $$$ and still all be in one room? Also we are not DVC members.
thanks!

Your best bet might be All-Star Family Suites (I think at ASMu). They sleep up to 6. Or it may be cheapest to get 2 rooms at a value resort.

Rent points from a DVC member, however the studios only sleep four also...one bed, one fold out couch...two value rooms are cheaper than the family suite.

Another option is the Fort Wilderness Cabins which sleep 6 (full bed, bunk beds, and a full Murphy bed). They can be more expensive however, they sometimes offer deals. You also get the benefit of a full kitchen, deck and grill.

Been to WDW more times than I can count since 1972. Stayed at BLT, AKV, WLV, SSR, POP, CBR, CR, FW Cabins, all the All Stars and also off site. Been to DL 3 times, 4 cruises on the Magic and went on the Dream Inaugural Cruise.

The absolute cheapest room option is 2 value rooms. You can get connecting rooms (with an inside door) or adjoining rooms (outside doors are side-by-side). This will require bed sharing for at least 2 (only 4 beds total) unless you bring an air mattress for the 5th person. You may be able to rent a cot but I don't have details for this option.
The cabins have full kitchens, potentially cutting food costs, but are more expensive. The value suites have kitchenettes but again, are more expensive than 2 value rooms. Additionally, the value suites have one queen bed and fold-outs for other bedding options.

Depending on the size of the adults, POFQ could work. The fifth bed is a pull-out trundle, so it's basically a mattress on the floor.
You can still stay at DVC resorts without being a DVC member. The refurbished OKW resort should have rooms that sleep five, as do the Animal Kingdom Villas. What they do is include a fold-out sleep chair in the front room.
But, the cheapest is still going to be two value rooms at one of the All Star resorts.

Two value rooms, as said above, is easily your best bet.
5 adults in a moderate room is overload and would probably difficult with the bathroom situation. Two values will be comparable in price (since you'll pay extra for more then 2 adults in a room anyway at a mod) and you'll have an additional bathroom.

check out the cabins at the wilderness lodge. expecially if you're adults, you might enjoy being on property, but a little seperated from the normal hustle and bustle of Disney

Riverside, not French Quarter, has rooms with trundle beds. But they are 35" X 65" and not recommended for guests over 9 years of age.

D'oh! I knew that. Just wasn't paying attention. I mean, we've stayed at POR for the last four trips because of the trundles.

I would recommend 2 POP (value) rooms. The beds are doubles and feel smaller after a park day. We use a good quality twin air mattress for 1 20year old. Separate beds are helpful due to the physical demands of WDW. There are usually specials of some sort going on.

ransam, do you mean the Villas at Wilderness Lodge or the cabins at Fort Wilderness campgrounds? I'm thinking it's the latter...

some resorts charge 25 dollars extra per adult in the room. I am going to run into this because my dd just turned 18.

Just to clarify, the extra nightly charge is per adult over the limit of 2 in a single room. Values charge $10 per night, moderates $15 and deluxes $25.

I'd seriously consider staying at the Cabins at Fort Wilderness with 5 adults. I've stayed there twice and both times and it was a lot of fun. FW provides tons of different activities/opportunities for both adults and kids.

Depending on how many separate beds you need, we loved staying at the one bedroom villa at Kidani Village at the AKL. There was a king bed, and then a queen couch bed, and a twin sleeper chair. And two bathrooms, and a kitchen. It was perfect and very spacious. But if cost is a huge factor, you would be better off at a value resort getting 2-3 rooms.

My vote would swing for 2 values...that would give you two bathrooms too.

We loved the Cabins at FW. The 4 grandkids and DH and I had plenty of room. It was very quiet (except for inside the cabin/ 4 boys all 4 and under) Also having the kitchen was a tremendous help.
Enjoy your planning it is part of the great experience that we all love called Disney!!
