Yeah, I wondered that myself.

What is with the suits and ties and long dresses?
Same question here. Do you think they dictate what they can wear, and also I've noticed that it seems like the "teams" are dressed is similar colors. Blueish for the older team and yellow/brights for the young team.

Yeah, I long ago assumed that their wardrobes were scripted. There's no way anyone who had watched this show before would voluntarily show up dressed the way these people do.
Also, the similarity between colors among tribes is too striking to assume as chance.

Well they did say the participants thought they had been already put on two different teams so they may have told them to wear certain colors so they would think that. I always wonder if they have them there for several days socializing and then spring the "launch" day on them so they are caught unprepared in clothes they wouldn't normally wear if they knew they were going that day. That would be in the back of my mind all the time and I would be prepared no matter what the "itinerary" for that day was.

That's exactly what they said they did for one cast, I don't recall which season, and I think they've done it a few times since, or at least staged it to seem that way. They had to have told people what colors to wear for the past season and this one, anyway. The wardrobes were noticeably matched to team color. Still, after watching a while, you catch on to this stuff and you think you might only pack underwear that looked like or really was a bathing suit, or only wear cocktail attire to any "pre" party that could comfortably double as jungle-wear safe for challenges. It doesn't take a lot of Survivor exposure to pick up on a few things. We would all make great contestants!

Agreed! I keep saying "Come on! Get smart about the clothing thing!" No way would I run around in my underwear for 30 something days! I sympathize with the girl who said she felt uncomfortable but she was also the one who said in her interview that she could play as well or better than the ones who thought she was just a cheerleader or something like that. She said something about wishing she had her bathing suit. Well, all I can say is "you should have had it on to begin with." Of course, I'm sure there are some that don't care what they have or don't have on as many nudist as there have been on the show. She was right though, wet underwear at night when it was cold had to be miserable. LOL That is what they get for striping down and jumping in the water first thing.

These are all the reasons why I'm fairly certain it's scripted that they run around in their undies.

I don't know. There are very few of them that I would actually not mind seeing in their undies, and even then I prefer bathing suits or something that leaves more to the imagination without needing the fuzzy editing. I'm not sure it's really benefiting the show in the ratings, if that's the case. Maybe I would think differently if I were a guy.

Doesn't do much for me ... in reality, what's the difference between a bikini and underwear anyway?
And yeah, typically at least 50% of the contestants I'd prefer were wearing full body burlap sacks!

Well, this season should definitely be an interesting one. Another vote here for the 'older' tribe!

Yeah, this girl said she was going to be embarrassed to watch herself on there and for her parents to see her in her underwear all the time so I figure if she had known ahead of time that was the way it was, why would she choose to be on there? I see no benefit from it. I'm all for the survival scenerio and the "you don't have anything with you" thing but it is getting very annoying them running around with no clothes all the time when they could at least let them have one set of survival clothes. Guess I am beating a dead horse here. So hopefully something will happen this week to give us something else to talk about.

Wow, so many players going off the deep end early. Very early. Holly, what was she thinking? That could go nowhere good for her, both the action and the confession. And how weird- her reaction to the snails and then the shoe thing. NaOnka, scary lady. I felt bad for Jud. I like Jud! He's oddly endearing and I wanted him to get his socks back. That was just nasty of NaOnka. Not sure how I feel about Brenda and her boyfriend, but I do think they should be split up, send one of them home. But Shannon made the case for himself in a big way right out of the gate at TC. Jeff Probst was loving it. He didn't even have to do anything but sit back and watch the team explode. What a great TC!
So far, I'm liking Jane, Marty, Jill, and Jud.

That was a really odd show last night. I don't ever recall so much bizarre behavior from people so early on in the game. It almost felt a bit forced to me maybe. Like too many people were trying to be the next Russel Hantz or something? Weird ...
No one really sticking out for me yet, which isn't unusual. It typically takes me at least three or four weeks to start developing favorites. At this point, I'm just kinda pulling for the older tribe in general. Strangely enough (for an Eagles fan), I'm finding myself pulling for Jimmy J. a bit.
I'm also starting to like Tyrone a bit. I liked the way he kind of shushed Jimmy T. (who annoys me). I also think Marty seems like a smart player. He quickly recognized it was best to let Jimmy J. stay out front and lead rather than try to challenge him. It always amazes me how, even after 20 seasons of Survivor to learn from, so many people have a tough time figuring that out.

Yay! Shannon did himself in with that mouth. Did anyone see who on his supposed alliance flipped and voted for him?

Thanks, Ian, I forgot Tyrone. I love him, so fun to watch!
Melanie, I didn't catch it. Good question, though.
