    Default Dining Reviews: May 17-23

Our first time on the dining plan was sooooooo wonderful. I can't imagine returning without having the ease of the plan. We had the basic dining plan, and even though the last day we had 9 snacks left over, I still feel like the convenience is totally worth it. I'm not sure we saved money, but I definitely don't think we spent more (and I think convenience holds a lot of value as well).

    'Ohana's
The BEST meal of the week. We had a late reservation, at 8:40pm, and we got a wonderful table by the window and we were able to see Wishes in the background. Our wait staff was great and the food was very delicious. One of my friends, Katy, is a vegetarian, and I had noted it on the reservation. Once we were seated, a chef came out and talked to her and they created a wonderful tofu dish for her that she loved! I love the pork dumplings!!! Everything we had was so good, this has become a must-do every trip. The only downside was all 3 of us wanted the lapu-lapu drink so bad, and they were out of pineapples!!!!! We had the drink, but it was served in a tiki glass instead

    Coral Reef
Another wonderful meal. I had read that people have been waiting a long time after their reservations, but we got in very early! Our reservation was for 8:50pm, but around 8 we thought we'd check in and see if there was a chance to eat early - we were in 5 minutes later!! I had a swordfish special that was to die for, my vegetarian friend had the delicious wild mushroom lasagna, and Robert, my other friend, had a wonderful halibut with mussels. Our waiter was a little bit slow (and we never got our bread), but the food was so great that we didn't mind! I would definitely recommend it!

    Kona Cafe
I had read so much about Tonga Toast that we had to try this place for breakfast - and we weren't disappointed!! I had the tonga toast, Katy had the macadamia nut and pineapple pancakes, and Robert had the steak breakfast. We all ended up sharing because the portions were huge and we wanted to try everything. This was such a nice way to start the day, it was relaxing and filling so we didn't have to stop for lunch (we had an early dinner planned at Boma).

    Boma
This has been my favorite for the past 3 years. It is still definitely a MUST DO for us, but 'Ohanas out did Boma this trip for best meal. I still love the sauces and flavors!!!

    Donald's Safari Character Breakfast
Even though we were all 22, we felt we had to do a character breakfast. We chose Donald's because we all love Boma and their flavors, so we thought we would love the food. The food was delicious, I loved a lot of the African flavors in the potatoes, corned beef hash, and frittatas. However, the character interaction wasn't very good. We were packed into a tiny corner, the characters were not traveling with escorts so we had to get people at a nearby table to take our photo, and we felt very rushed by our waiter. They need to get this place more organized before we return!

    50's Prime Time Cafe
This was my 2nd time here, and probably my last for a few years. The atmosphere is fun and unique, but the menu is frankly junk. My fried chicken was horrible, Katy's pasta was bland, and Robert's pork loin was just boring. We did love the peanut butter and jelly milkshakes, but I just can't see myself returning for the horrible food! Hollywood Studios needs a food makeover - quick!!!

    Grand Floridian Cafe
We have always loved this place. We spent the morning at Magic Kingdom and headed here for lunch. It is so relaxing to walk from the boat dock through the resort and into the restaurant. The mellow colors and large, airy ceilings make this place feel so refreshing. I had the grand floridian burger with lobster hollandaise sauce that was excellent. I actually cheated and ate the lobster first, then ate the burger second by itself. Robert had a caesar salad that looks wonderful and Katy had a really great pasta. And the dessert was SOOO good. They let Katy and I use two dessert credits to share the dessert sampler and it was to die for. Everything was so fresh and delicious! I love this place - it is definitely a hidden gem of food in WDW.

So, our food experience was great. We had some great counter service at Flame Tree Barbecue and Sunshine Seasons was WONDERFUL!!! We won't do Donald's Safari breakfast or 50's Prime Time again anytime soon, and 'Ohana's has joined our list of must do's for every trip!!!

Sounds like you had a wonderful eating experience! We also weren't overly impressed with the food at 50 PTC this past trip, but glad everything else was so yummy!

I agree with you about the DP. The freedom and convenience of it has its value when you are wanting a worry free vacation. It may save little money but it saves a lot in other ways

It is sad to hear about Prime Time we have wonderful memories there. We also love Sunshine Seasons at the Land! Thanks for the reviews!

Glad to hear you enjoyed Coral Reef. We used to go there on every trip. Last time it wasn't great so we haven't been back.

We may want to try it again on the next trip

I agree with the dining plan too--the convenience means a lot to me but I think we get our money's worth out of it regardless. Glad to hear you enjoyed Coral Reef. We're trying it out in October and I'm looking forward to it.

Love the reviews! Thank you! Now I am really looking forward to trying GFC for the first time on our upcoming trip! We are going for dinner but still sounds amazing.

We too are less than thrilled with the dining selections at DHS. We eat at Mama Melrose's, not because we love it but because it is the lesser of the evils. Many times we take the walk (or boat) over to the Yachtsman Steakhouse (a big favorite) but there are only so many times in 2 1/2 weeks one can eat at the same place.

Sorry to hear about Tusker House we are also trying that for the first time this trip. Mostly so that we can get tinto the park prior to park opening and get a headstart on the day.
