What info can you share about California Grill? What is the dress code? Are you able to view the MK fireworks? Thanks for any info.

We had dinner there just a couple of weeks ago. They have a viewing area outside where you can see the fireworks. We even left the table between dinner and dessert to go outside and watch. Our waiter said this was fine. We just wore normal stuff that we might go to the park in, but my husband was asked to remove his hat. We didn't know about that beforehand. He had a minor case of hathair. So no hats and casual attire. There were people who were dressed up but also some dressed just like us. There were a few families with children like us but mostly adults and couples.

There is a dress code, but it's very lenient. The only prohibitions really are no thong sandals, no torn clothing, no bathing/swimsuit like attire (and maybe no hats-- gentlemen should remove hats indoors, old-fashioned perhaps but they might stick to that). Tees and jeans (not torn) are acceptable. Most people will be slightly more dressed up.

The food is incredible and the service (for us) has always been top notch. The view is really breathtaking. You can get a table with a view, but you're better off heading outside about 15 minutes before fireworks to get a spot for viewing. It's like hovering over the MK with an eagle-eye view. Wonderful. Enjoy!

    Cool

I appreciate the info Sherri, both on your experience and in regards to the dress code. My DW and I are trying the California Grill for the first time (in just 32 days!) and we are excited to say the least.

Also, if your evening reservation is too early to see the fireworks during your meal, just keep your ADR confirmation and come back later that night to the outdoor viewing area to watch the show. (You can only watch the show from the outdoor viewing area on the same night as your dining experience.) Our reservation is for 7:40 p.m. on the night that the fireworks are scheduled for 10:00 p.m., so we will probably check out the new additions and updates to CR and then come back upstairs.

Sometimes we have asked for a window table and have had to wait 20 minutes or so for one to be available and then making our evening last into the fireworks! They pipe the music into the restaurant and dim the lights so you don't even have to go outside if you don't want too!

    Red face

We do CG for fireworks once per trip. We try to do a little better than park touring clothes since some people are very dressed up.
Once the fireworks were canceled due to lightning.
The lighting was almost enough to make up my dissapointment.http://www.intercot.com/discussion/i...ons/icon11.gif

Its amazing. Definitely find out when the fireworks will be and book a dinner reservation close to that so that you can view the fireworks during dinner. They have a viewing deck although sometimes you can see them from your table. The food is wonderful - the dress code is just "nice" resort wear. This is one of our "must do" restaurants every year. Enjoy!

If you're looking for romance and don't want to be seated around small children, ask to be seated in the wine room. You will have to watch fireworks on the deck (which is actually the better viewing spot, in my opinion) but it's sometimes worth it because the wine room is very peaceful with views of Bay Lake (and Illuminations in the distance if timed right). Only adults are seated in the wine room.

    It's EXPENSIVE!

At least I consider it so. I still eat there, but thank-you-know-who for DDP!

When we ate there last September, the bill for seven of us including three teenage boys came to almost $900!

Of course, there were a few cocktails and some single malts included in this.

But it was worth every penny we would have paid, if we weren't on DDP.
Officially too many trips to list here!
