awesome! i can do the online check in tomrw but im torn - i like checking in! its like the official start of our vacation - i haven't made up my mind yet because my ocd loves the thought of checking in online and having that done - i may need therapy

CONFUSED! I really don't understand the point to checking in online (other than giving us disney fanatics something else to do) because as I understand it, you still have to check in at the resort?

It's sort of like the self checkout or cash only lane at the grocery store. Basically, it's for those that don't need a lot of help, or questions answered. They can just go to the specified CM at the front desk, show ID, pick up their welcome packet and start their vacation as quickly as possible .

How they assign the rooms can vary. In a lot of situations, once the room assigning department gets the reservations (approximately 3-4 days prior to arrival), they can start pre-assigning rooms. None of that is locked into the system though and can be changed and updated at any time.

Many people ask about having a gift basket or special gift in the room when they arrive and the primary reason why they don't do it, is that room changes do happen.

In regards to getting your requests granted, a good rule of thumb is to list them by priority, try to keep them to a minimum and arrive early. That's when the room inventory would be at it's highest and if you don't like the room they've assigned you, you can ask for a change. If you have a medical request, that should go through special services as they're the only ones who can place a block on a room.

We did online check-in in March.

LOVED it!! My packet was waiting for me, our room was ready and we bypassed many people waiting to check-in.

I'm very OCD and like that too so I feel your pain! I haven't decided which route I'm taking when my time comes!

I am usually OCD too. But honestly, with regular check in our past couple of visits, our requests were not able to be met anyway. This time I made sure the travel agent noted them on our reservation (although I know they are still just requests) and think we may have a better chance at getting them since we won't arrive until between 6-7pm.

I also liked the idea of bypassing all those getting off the magical express bus with us that might not have taken advantage of the online check-in.

i did it! i couldnt help it my ocd won - i checked in online and it was awesome - i figure i still have to go to the check in counter to get my keys and welcome packet and thats kinda like checking in - only quicker - im still considering therapy

What happens when you get to the resort then? sorry, this idea is very confusing to me!

Haven't done it yet, but from what I understand you show your photo I.D. and your package with your room keys, tickets, etc is handed to you and you're ready to go.

It gives you the option online during the check-in to put a credit card on file for charging privileges in advance.
