Wishes to be only 2 nights a week?
Has anybody else heard this rumor, and is there any truth to it? it's hard to imagine that they would do that in the interest of saving a few dollars...there would be a lot of upset patrons....
"Ive been to WDW more times in real life than I have posts on here!!!!"Not sure, but has to be over 100 times since 1971..absolutely my favorite place on Earth....

Have not heard anything but it wouldn't be a big stretch to think that they could and maybe will do it. They did it to Fasmatic and I can see why Wishes should get special privillages if the sistuation calls for it. MK would still have the electirc parade so it not like it has nothing.
Here we go feel the flow its the universe of energy.

Which is already on reduced showings during the off season...
I hope this rumor isn't true. Fireworks over the castle is iconic! I know that they don't have them every night in DL, but isn't that more because of the nearby residents?
"You're not Mickey Mouse, you're a rat!"
"Rat, Schmat! Besides, they're tourists! What do they know?"

Have not heard this rumor. However, with this management team currently in place, of course they will be looking to cut the entertainment guests actually like, while adding stuff like Stitch's Dance Party .
Let's stop defending mediocrity out of Disney and hold Disney to the higher standard they set up themselves.

Well you know, I'm sure 4 out of 5 guests surveyed said they would like LESS fireworks in the parks.

Yes, guest exit surveys are showing that people are frightened by the fireworks noise and would like to have more opportunities to visit the park at night without being terrified by all the explosions.
Ergo, Wishes is being cut back to perform only on odd numbered days of months that end with an "E."
In all seriousness, though, rumor has it that attendance is WAY up in March (allegedly like 66% over this time last year). If they did, in fact, cut back showings of Wishes in light of that, it would be a serious cash-grab on their part.
Not that that would surprise me ... they apparently have already decided that the uptick in attendance means they no longer have to bring characters back to LTT, so pretty much anything can happen.

There seems to be the faint hint of bitterness on the wind......

You know I am getting really tired of all these cutbacks. I have a trip planned in June and was looking into December but with all these little things going away I am beginning to rethink my travel plans. Yeah I understand the economy is bad but it really is getting tiring to hear it used as an excuse for everything.
After experiencing the nightmare of Wishes and lack of crowd control this past December, I can't even imagine if it was cutback to twice a week.

I've already cancelled our annual trip. Even though they're offering a great promotion with the buy 4 get 3, Call it my own little protest, but I can't justify the trip with all of the cutbacks in food and entertainment they've done. Maybe next year, but not this year for sure, unless my wife and kids somehow convince me otherwise. Needless to say, I won't get the Father of the Year award this year.
As for this rumour, I really can't see them doing this after all the noise that guests made at DHS after they reduced Fantasmic to 2 nights a week.
EDIT. On second thought, in light of all the other cutbacks they've made, I CAN see them doing this!
Everybody else is thinking it, I'm just saying it. - Mr Gibbs

Well....you hit the nail on the head....really
All the "cutbacks" and belt tightening is really nothing but exploiting a bad situation to reduce the amount of service for the prices...
It's thinly veiled and embarassing

I'm not going this year either and this is the first time in my entire life I haven't even really wanted to.
Our trips have been getting more and more disappointing over the past few years, and I think our last trip (in December) just clinched it. Too many cutbacks. Disney just doesn't even seem like the same place it once did.

Yep. They did the same thing after 9/11 (which was even more despicable, IMO).
So what they'll do is cut back 30% of offerings now and then, when the economy rebounds, they'll bring back 10% of the cuts and sell them as "new and exciting changes at the Walt Disney World Resort!"
One common thread runs throughout Corporate America ... they really believe the general public is stupid.
Sadly, in many cases, they are 100% correct.

I know that what you mentioned here is a bit off topic; however, I need to make sure I understand this correctly... So characters at LTT were removed, but due to customer response plans were made to bring them back. But now you say that even before bringing the characters back the plans have changed and characters will remained nixed at this point? Has this been confirmed via an authoritative statement?

This is the rumours (sic) board. It may not contain the truth.

That is, in essence, what the rumors are, but you are quite correct that they're nothing but rumors.
Nothing authoritative from Disney at all. And that's ditto for the Wishes news ... I actually haven't seen or read that rumor anywhere but here so a grain of salt is definitely in order.

There is quite a bit of reinvestment and/or improvements going on in the parks. Read the Tidbits sticky at the top of this board for starters, plus you've got your Space Mountain refurb, new construction in Tomorrowland (new stage show?), new construction at DTD (hot air balloon ride?), new restaurants (Kouzinne), new resorts (4 Seasons/Western Way/Pop expansion)... These are just the things off the top of my head... Seems to me that there is quite a bit of reinvestment/improvement projects going on, considering the current economic clime.
hmmmmm.....um....not sure whether to go high road or hades on this one.....

This is a rumour (sic) mentioned by one person who has yet to provide sourcing or confirmation.

You are missing the point Disney already did this with Fantasmic so why not Wishes? The point I was making is that an uneducated visitor to WDW will just accept this as the days they are shown and not know they use to be every night. Overall the value of a Disney Vacation is dropping and significantly. I notice one of the things mentioned is the Hot Air Ballon and just how much do you thing Disney is going to charge for 10 minutes in this ballon? I have heard $25 per Adult and $12 for children. What a great addition

I am not missing the point that you are jumping to conclusions.
