Which weekend @ DL will the be shooting for the Christmas Day parade?
DH & I are looking to do our trip to DL the first weekend in Dec. (we had to postpone due to hurricane Ike) & I'm wondering if that is the weekend they will be taping the segments for the Disney Christmas Day Parade.
Any info will be greatly appreciated.

OK...57 views & no replies? No one knows...not any of the DL CMs that frequent this site? Not any of the Mods? No one? That is very surprising.

This may not be much help. But I know two years ago it was done in November. Actually fell on Veteran's Day, which was on a Saturday. We didn't know until we arrived that this was going on, it didn't affect our day. As they were doing filming in different areas at different times. During the filming those areas would be congested, but not bad again I think because it was middle of November and the crowds weren't as big as they would be in December.

If there hasn't been an answer to your post, then more than likely no one actually knows the answer yet. As soon as someone hears or it's publicized by Disney, we will post. Unfortunately we Moderators weren't issued the Disney Crystal Ball for predicting future events ... I have put in an official INTERCOT Requisition Form to provide one though ... keep your fingers crossed!
You can always try and contact Disney Guest Services and see if they can help. I have emailed them before and they do actually answer pretty quickly. Be sure and post if you get an answer, odds are other people are also wondering the same thing.

I have always heard that the taping takes place in November, but I have no idea what the exact date is. I kind of doubt they would do it during the Thanksgiving weekend crush, so maybe the week before that. Or if they wait until It's a Small World re-opens after its refurbishment, it could indeed be sometime during the first week of December.
Sorry--like Michael said, no crystal ball here either.

It's always been in November as long as I've been going as an AP holder (roughly 7 years). I can recall being there about 4 of the past 7 years during the taping(s). I'm sorry, but I can't remember the ACTUAL days, but I NEVER go on Saturday, so I can assure you, it takes place on other days as well. I believe it goes on for a few days (it's not all done in one day).
Don't worry, though, it doesn't impact anything negatively. They just alert you with signs that they will be filming that day and that you "may" be included in the Christmas Day airing special if you choose to hang out on Main Street during the parade that day. Then, there are lights and wires everywhere, but really, nothing else extraoridnary happens (except last year Miley Cyrus performed onstage, and that sort of stunk, cause all of Main St. was mobbed, but I digress...)
I would be willing to wager on one of the first two weekends AFTER the Christmas decorations are up, BEFORE Thanksgiving.

Just a guess
But I am thinking it changes because I went a few years ago and it was taped the 2nd week of Dec. However I am guessing they probably do different parts at different times. What they do is place a sign in front letting you know that ABC will be filming and they will announce it.

It starts this Saturday (11/8) and
continues off & on through Thursday.
The parade sequence will
be Saturday around noon & will
most likely delay the first POD by
an hour or so.
This DOES change quite often over
the years. Once it was Oct.29th
and it was 90F out along Main St.
Suffice to say the reindeer were not
having a really good day.
Tonight, the part of Al will be played by a tall, dark and sinister ugly man.

Thank you. Bummer we'll miss it, but then again, maybe the crowds won't be bad the weekend in Dec. that we're going to be there then.

Did they actually start taping the parade?
I was just wondering if anyone was there this weekend and if they actually started taping the parade?

We're going up on Tuesday, so I'll let you know if they are still taping or if they are done, etc.

We arrived in the park on Friday. Cameras and lighting were set up along Main Street and there was a stage set up in front of the castle. The castle walk through to Fantasyland was roped off. They filmed on Saturday and everything was cleared out by Saturday evening.

Who performed?
-
We heard it was Julio Eglacias and the Jonas Brothers. We didn't stick around to watch.

The year I was there Hanna Montana was "performing" ... so needless to say, no live performance leaves a lot to be desired.
