Smile Typhoon Lagoon or Blizzard Beach?

    Hi,
We are new to Intercot. It looks like a great site! I'm posting this question for my DD's ages 7 and 8. One is a thrill seaker, one is not. Which park would suit us better, Blizzard Beach, or Typhoon Lagoon? Shark Reef looks really cool, but would it have enough for my little dare devil?
    Thanks

I'm torn between both because I love them both. But in your case I would recommend Blizzard Beach. I feel that they have the ultimate for thrill seekers but they also have many milder slides and a great area for kids. There is more of a variety at Blizzard Beach for sure.

If you are looking for slides, Blizard Blizzard is the way to go. If you are looking at more of a relaxing and themed water park, go to Typhoon Lagoon.

I have only been to TL, but we loved it. Very lush and landscaped. Great for non dare devils like us, but we didn't even try to go on the big slides.

Shark Reef is cool (very cold water) but a pretty brief experience. You basically get your snorkel gear, get in at one end of the tank and swim accross to the other side. You can see a lot of fish (including the tiger shark), but TL is so much more.

As others have said, TL is more themed and it does have the incredible wave pool. BB has 'better' slides.

Was it just me or did it feel like there was more waiting in line at TL than most of the BB slides? Besides Summit Plumitt, we got on every slide within 5 or 10 minutes. The three slides grouped within that little space at TL seemed to take forever to get to the front.

I would have normally said Typhoon Lagoon because of the water coaster but after today, not so much. Our raft flipped over on Crush and Gusher and Rachel hit her head pretty hard and I cut my elbow. It kind of ruined the day. I'll stick to the slides at BB from now on.

Ouch Jym, hope everyone is ok. I saw the same thing happen while I was in line for Crush n' Gusher a couple months ago.

I really prefer Blizzard Beach-- far better slides, better family slides, and better kiddie area. And they do have a wave pool there too, albeit not as good as Typhoon Lagoon's wave pool.

Jym, ouch! I hope Rachel recovered fast. Sorry that happened.

OMG! Jym, I hope Rachel is doing ok. I'm sending you both some for a quick recovery.

I did C & G once and really wasn't too terribly impressed with it.

Thank you all for the kind thoughts. Rachel is fine. I'm sure the Citricos Wine Flight helped. She has a little bruise but no lasting damage. You can't hurt her by hitting her in the head.

OUr boys LOVED Typhoon lagoon ... 16, 12, and 8

The oldest loved the slides, Crusher'n Gusher (no tip overs for them!) ... the wave pool was awesome ... the lazy river was great ... shark reef ... It fit the bill for those in our family who were the "thrill seekers", and those who are more mellow and laid back.

    Thank you all so much!
I'm still not sure where we'll end up, both parks look like a lot of fun. Although you guys are making Typhoon Lagoon look really good. Right now we have a split vote. This is a bit off topic but how is cs for lunch?
Jym, I really hope Rachel is ok, I hope it didn't ruin your whole day.

I like Blizzard Beach better (although I haven't been to Typhoon Lagoon since Crush 'n' Gusher opened). I just feel more relaxed there. There are more slides there that I am comfortable on, I enjoyed the lazy river there, and I prefer the gentle wave pool over the one at Typhoon Lagoon that feels like it is going to rip your legs out from under you at any time.

We did both our last trip in sept. And we liked TL better.

The wave/alternate bob action at TL was more "us" and we love crush and gusher (and I'll admit Jym it could be cause I got a HUGE bruise from summit plummit on my thigh so bad I had to take asprin and use the dreaded ben gay stuff! I hope Rachel is still doing better)

The lines at either will be very much attendance driven..but we really liked the family raft at BB to give it's due and the lazy river was very themed there which was cute.

Really and truly you can't go wrong!

to Intercot! I know you'll love this sight (as we all do)! Now, as to your post! There are pros to both parks, but NO cons!! BB is the one for your little dare devil as "Summit Plummet" is the gold standard as water slides go! (just keep your legs together). Both parks have great raft rides, and areas for the little ones. But TL has, in my opinion the better wave pool, and I LOVE Shark Reef. It is a must-do for me @ every trip. Be warned, the water is VERY cold, and you do swim w/real sharks (and no barrier in between). You're given instructions, and it's not a very long swim across the "lagoon". But it it way cool Hope this helps! Have a "Magical Journey"!

I also have to qualify my answer by saying that I havent been to TL since Crushn' Gusher opened. But I prefer BB. It does have a wave pool that isn't nearly as wild as TL's and that is one of the major reasons I prefer it. I think TLs wave pool is too rough. I also think BB had a better selection of slides, and we also like the big family tube slide better at BB.
