    Default Renting a Cab

    Hello Everyone,
I need your wonderful advice again. My friend and I are giong to Disney in January and are both 22. This means that the price to rent a car goes through the roof. We are planning to use disney transportation most of the time, however, we might want to rent a cab for 2 of our character breakfasts. Has anyone every rented a cab, how was your experience, and how much did it cost? Also, if you would have the number that would be great as well. Thanks for your info!!

My understanding is that cabs are pretty available throughout the Disney resorts. Just let bell services know you need one and they will summon one for you.

Depending on where you start and where you end, my understanding is the cost would run somewhere between $15-$25.

This is our first trip not renting a car - we're still here, so the cab is pretty fresh in my brain. LOL

We're at Saratoga Springs this trip (probably not the best place to start my experiment with going w/o a car! LOL) but cabs are pretty easy to get - even for 6 of us - the vans are here in about 5-10 minutes tops - all have been very nice, very accommodating. Cost has been from $10.00 to Boardwalk to a high of $15.00 from Contemporary back here tonight - same trip cost $10.00 from SSV to Contemporary earlier this evening, so I'm not sure if there are different rates for later in the evening or if we just had a really slow driver coming home.LOL

Really, it's been fine taking cabs - definitely easier than navigating resort to resort using Disney transportation!

    Hope this helps -

    Kim

If you go to the Mears Transportation website, it has a taxi fare estimator. It is pretty handy for figuring out costs.

BTW- You might want to call 407 WDW-Ride to see if you can take Disney Transportation to your character breakfast instead.

It should only cost $10 - $20 plus tip as faline mentioned.

For the most part cabs are staged at the resorts pretty much around the clock. You might not see them, but they are there. Just let the folks out front know you need a taxi and they'll get one for you. Here's a link to the taxi fare estimator off the Mears website:

goofy4mickey, I don't believe the rates change, considering the fares are posted on the door of the cars, it depends on which route the cab driver takes.
