Mar. 23, 1976 – Actress Keri Russell, a Mouseketeer on Disney Channel’s “All New Mickey Mouse Club”, from 1991 to 1993, was born in Fountain Valley, Ca.
Mar. 23, 1977 – Josh Ackerman, who was a Mouseketeer for 7 seasons on the “All New Mickey Mouse Club”, was born in St. Paul, Minnesota.
Mar. 23, 1985 – The “Disneyland Is Your Land” Show debuted at Disneyland.
Mar. 23, 1986 – The Disney TV show “Disney Goes to The Oscars” aired.
Mar. 23, 1987 – The Walt Disney Company signed a contract with the French National, Regional, and Local Government, which promised Disney loan terms, that the rapid transit railway system would be extended to the theme park from Paris, and that 2 interchanges would be built to link Euro Disneyland with a main highway, and a special station for high speed trains would be constructed at the park.
Mar. 23, 1992 – The Disney Channel TV series “Disney’s Adventures in Wonderland” began airing. (Ended Sept. 10, 1995) (Went into syndication Sept. 6, 1993)
Mar. 23, 1996 – The Walt Disney Company and McDonald’s Corp. signed a 10 year multi-national promotional alliance, set to begin in Jan. 1997.
Mar. 23, 1998 – At the 1997 Academy Awards, Don Iwerks (co-founder of Iwerks Entertainment) was given the Gordon E. Sawyer Award for accomplishments in the field of motion picture science and technology. Iwerks, who in his early years worked for Disney, and was the son of legendary Disney animator Ub Iwerks.
Mar. 23, 2000 – Disney’s stage show “Aida” opened at Palace Theater in New York City.
Mar. 23, 2001 – The Lizzie McGuire episode “Aaron Carter’s Coming to Town” aired on the Disney Channel.
