    Day SIX, Thursday, June 28th

Today is Typhoon Lagoon Day. A friend of one of our chaperones is a WDW CM and he arranged to meet that family on Thursday at TL. She alarmed us by saying we needed to be there no later than 8:30am to get in at 9:30 or we might get shut out . He was worried that the ladies, by having breakfast and arriving even later, would not get in at all and was trying to convince us to cancel our breakfast and come early. I was hearing NONE OF THIS!!! But I did inform all of the ladies (4, besides me) that they had the option of having breakfast and possibly not getting in, or going early with the guys. We ALL chose breakfast. None of us cared if we ever got into the water park!

So, everyone got up, the guys all had their usual cold breakfast and packed their lunches. They also got their daily meal allowance for dinner, which would be at Typhoon Lagoon. They packed their towels, etc and got on the bus.

My husband had plans of his own today. I forgot to mention that yesterday he did the Keys to the Kingdom tour in MK and today he was doing the World Showcase tour- all on his own. He doesn't really like water parks- so this was perfect for him.

After a little confusion about where the ladies were to meet (we had one staying in a cabin), we met at the boat dock, took a launch to the MK and another to the Polynesian. We arrived about 20 minutes late for our PS- but were seated right away. We had a great server named Frank who pampered us. We ordered juice and had Frank keep the coffee coming and then started studying the menu. We ended up with 3 orders of Tonga Toast and 2 orders of Banana-Pecan Pancakes (my serving was enough to serve half the Troop!). We savored every bite We were so glad not to be eating cold corn flakes out of a little box When the check came I got the nice surprise of being treted to breakfast!! It was a thank you from the ladies for arranging this and everything else! How sweet

Breakfast lasted til almost 11:00 and then we checked out the Poly gift shop for a while. At 11:30 we walked over to the TTC and boarded a bus to Typhoon Lagoon. The day was slightly overcast and rain was predicted- so the crowds were nearly non-existent. We had NO trouble entering TL!! I would have been SOO upset if we had cancelled our breakfast. (I lost my prescription sunglasses in MGM earlier in the week and hadn't had a chance to check guest services for them yet- I'm glad it wasn't sunny, but the glare was still strong enough that I missed them that day)

Well, we had not arranged a meeting place inside TL, so we just set up camp in the first place we found. Several of the ladies needed to change and rent towels and lockers, so I held down the fort and watched for any signs of our gang. Not a soul to be seen. We all decided a nice lazy tour of Castaway Creek was in order. The water was perfect, just a little sun peeking through the clouds. About halfway around the creek we found some of the boys. They told us where they were located and we finished our relaxing ride and gathered our things to move.

It turns out they got in right away when they arrived, no long lines, picked out a nice spot right by Ketchakiddie Creek and under a picnic pavilion in case it rained (it never did). Everyone was spread out throughout the park having lots of fun. Most all of them had already been swimming with the sharks at least once. Some had tried Hummunga Kowabunga, but no one wanted to do it again They loved the wave pool and the tube rides.

Me and 2 other ladies, along with their 2 sons decided to try the family raft ride. It was so much fun, but very cramped- 5 adult sized bodies in one raft is a bit much. We had our picture taken on this ride by a park photographer and it came out really nice (I bought a key chain size photo). Then we headed to the other tube slides, and then the shark pool. I didn’t want to swim with the sharks, so I just watched. I heard the water was pretty cold (but they said it wasn't bad at all) and because of my asthma- I don’t do too well with snorkel thingys. I enjoyed watching them tho.

We started noticing some nasty sunburns on some of the boys (I don’t think they ever reapplied any sunscreen all day). It was overcast and no one was thinking about getting burned. So they started putting shirts on about 5pm.

Throughout the day I found my 2 kids here and there. We did a few things together, but mostly everyone was on their own. Late in the day 6 adults (myself included) decided we had to do EACH of the 3 storm slides at least once. It's quite a workout walking up and down those stairs to get to the top of each line. Almost no one was in line all day- so you had to keep moving on the stairs. UGH! The body slides were fun! We did the family and single tube rides again too. And the wave pool was fun, but a little too powerful at times.

Some of us ate lunch and all of us ate dinner at Leaning Palms- near the volleyball court. I decided I was not making lunch today. At least some of the boys were playing volleyball most of the day. The teams varied, but the game went on. The food was very good and reasonably priced.

We actually stayed til the park closed at 8pm. I was thinking we didn’t really need 11 hours of water- but I was wrong. It was a perfectly timed (and intentional) break from the rushing around we had been doing all week.

Then we waited for the bus... and waited... and asked guest services about it...and waited...and made phone calls to the bus garage...and waited. We watched 3, 4 and 5 buses for the same locations come and go. Not one single bus for theTTC came. We had about 30 people in our group and there were another 8 or so people also waiting. The boys complained for a while, then sat down on the street and started playing cards Finally, after 50 minutes of waiting, a TTC bus arrived- full of people from Downtown Disney. So we all had to stand. By the time we got to the TTC and transferred to a FW bus, we got home at about 9:45. We were a tired bunch.

Tomorrow it's Animal Kingdom and our big honor in MK- we get to retire the American Flag on Main Street!!

How did you survive breakfast without any guys around? Just women? I would have gone insane.

Glad to hear you finally got a rest from the parks today. It must have been so relaxing!

I bet I know some folks who slept great that night. 11 hours at a water park is enough to wear out anyone. Every report I have read of yours has been great. You did an excellent job of planning this trip. It is a perfect itinerary. CONGRAT
I know your parents and Boy Scouts all have wonderful memories thanks to the excellent job you did.
