Hammer- The Solo Tour- Observations and Final Thoughts

The WL is a beautiful resort, but I will probably try others before going back. I did not have transportation problems, but I think I just got pretty lucky. Beach Club is still my favorite place to stay.

Touring solo was an enjoyable experience. I don’t have any problem with eating by myself as I do this when traveling for business and the CM’s at the restaurants were great. I was able for the most part to make PS only a couple of hours before a meal or walk-in. I did not try, however, to eat at a character meal.

Most of the ignorant behavior was from fellow vacationers. Many families looked at me as if I had three heads for going to WDW alone. I even had parents say to their kids that “that woman” was taking up a space so they had to wait. Hey, I love children (really, I do), but because I do not have a child or someone with me means I should not get the opportunity to enjoy the park? I did not do any character meals, but can imagine the number of families that would have comments about me “taking space”. Okay, off my soapbox !!

The one time where it would have been nice to have someone along was at night. I tended to go to bed earlier on this vacation than when I travel with my sister.

Tried some new restaurants this trip (Boma, Brown Derby, Mam Melrose's, 50's Prime Time, Kona Cafe, Artist Point) as well as Old favorites (Chef's de France, Ohana, San Angel Inn). Did not have a bad meal, though some were better than others. I will eat again at Artist Point and Kona Cafe!

Don’t know when my next trip will be, though I may have the opportunity to go to a conference at the Yacht and Beach Club in late October. Really depends on my boss.

Any time you want someone else to "take up space" with you, just hollar!

Great job with the reports. Sounds like a wonderful vacation!

I went solo for four nights in December before Kerri joined me for the last three. I had the best of both worlds, and I like you had no problem eating alone. I escaped the rude comments...either that or I didn't hear them!

Kerri is WDWed-out, and even though we have a week trip in February, I don't think I can make it. I believe a solo October long weekend is in order!

    I'm glad you had fun!

I thought your trip reports were really great. I had a solo trip in Oct of 96 and think I will try to plan one again sometime soon. It is nice to do what you want to when you feel like it and go at your own pace. Thanks for sharing your trip.

    Wink

I ended up spending one day of my trip at Epcot by myself (haven't written that day of my trip report yet). I got a few odd looks, but not too many.

Is it just me, or do too many people think the world revolve around them? After all, everyone knows it revolves around me!

Great reports! Gotta get back to writing mine!

I did the solo trip a few years back...I went to see a friend who lived in Orlando and was supposed to go with me and didn't...
I enjoyed seeing everything at my own pace, I did feel like some people were giving me odd looks, but maybe that is just paranoia, who knows.
    Thanks for the great report...
