Do they have any of the attractions open?
I have heard they have trick or treat, but what else? Do they limit the crowds so it is easier to meet characters.

A limited number of tickets are sold. Therefore, the event usually sells out.
Most of the attractions are open, a few are not included.

We were thinking of Sun Oct 18th. How are the crowds if they sell out? Surely it wouldn't be as busy as a Sat at MK for example. Could we buy our tickets when we come in that Sat?

There are around 20,000 tickets sold. It may sound like a lot, but that is a minimal "crowd" for Magic Kingdom.
If you plan on attending the event, I would not wait to purchase the tickets. They normally sell out in advance.

Yes the rides are open, but we spent last year just going from candy to candy and participating in the special entertainment (the kid parades) and the main parade. We had a great time and already have our tickets for this year.

We just bought our tickets for 10/21!! Do the grown-ups "have" to dress up? What rides are not open? If 20,000 is a minimal crowd-what is a normal to high crowd? Do they sell costumes at Disney for adults? Thanks for the info..

Most of the attractions are open...a few that are not include The Legend of the Lion King, The Enchanted Tiki Room, and CoP. A few more may be included but the majority and the more popular attractions will be open.

As for grown-ups dressing up... You don't "have to" (this is Disney World, where even death and taxes are unheard of...ha!)...but why wouldn't you want to?
I have seen posts that mention cast members "taunting" guests in street clothes, all in good fun I am sure. But, come on, it's a PARTY!!! You could always go as a "tourist", quite simple to pull off! Or, yes, they do sell several great adult costumes at Disney Store...
