parking
Am I the only one who thinks that if your staying in a disney property that you shouldnt have to pay for parking? We are staying on property for a week and are being charged $100 for the week. This is a ridiculous charge and another way for disney to charge extra for something. I could understand paying for parking if your there for a day trip for but a whole week there shouldnt be a charge

Many hotels now charge for parking. Several we have stayed in in various parts of the country are way more expensive than Disney

I agree!
Charge us to park at a Park if you must, but to charge us to leave our car in your half empty hotel lot is next to extortion.
If I arrive by jet WDW will transport me to and from the airport at no charge, but if I arrive in my own car and leave it in the hotel 1/2 empty lot I’m charged for each day it remains unmoved in that lot!

You are not alone. I think it's ridiculous too. I think any hotel charging for parking when you're a guest there is ridiculous.

That is exactly the point. They want you to use their transportation and not fill all the parking spaces. There are already too many coming to a resort for 'free parking' and going from there to the parks. This is to cut way back on that.
Unfortunate, but if people would 'play by the rules' it may not have been necessary.

Yea, I just don't get this one. It's not like people are paying low, competitive rates to stay at the Disney resorts - they're all expensive. And to dump another daily fee on top just seems so unnecessary and unreasonable.

But this doesn't eliminate that problem. And if reports are accurate that parking lots are now only half full, there's even more space for the cheaters. So far that I'm aware, the only ones paying to park at the resorts are the ones admitting to parking their vehicle there overnight.

Besides the obvious (wanting more profit), I think that Disney thinks that the fee is a dis-incentive to bring your own car. They want you to be a captive audience who has to eat every meal and spend every last entertainment dollar on Disney property.

We drive there and never leave the property, even though we have our own car. So for us, it's a real slap in the face.

I think that considering the hotel rates, to then charge additional for parking is outrageous. I've heard the argument that they should just include parking in the hotel rate, but I do agree with what was said, that Disney wants you to SEE how much extra it costs to have a car, and so you'll just stay on property without a vehicle and spend all your money inside the Disney property.

I don't think that quite makes sense though. The cost of 4 airline tickets is going to far outweigh the cost of parking. Not to mention the benefit of being on our own timetable and not stressing about everything involved in flying now. I think they're just doing it because they can.

This may be true at some deluxe resorts near parks but certainly not true at moderates and values. These hotel lots are half empty, even during Christmas week when we usually go.

I won't stay at a hotel that does that. It's ridiculous no matter where it is. They don't have to pay any more whether a car is parked on their lot or not.
I'll meet you at the Rainbow Bridge.
