FP Booking & Hotel Cancellation
I read this somewhere and was surprised that people were doing this, but I guess they think of everything.
Effective 2/4/19, WDW will be cancelling any FP reservations if you cancel your room reservations. Apparently people were making Room Only reservations so they could utilize the 60 day FP window, then cancelling the room and keeping the FP bookings. Their system didn't cancel them automatically when the room was cancelled.
Disney is supposed to announce this officially on Monday.

I think this is a great thing. Need to catch the people who are abusing the system and tying up rooms just to get fastpasses and then dropping the room.

I don't have an issue with this, but I worry about changes, etc. I hope the IT team gets it right! I could see a last minute hotel change (still on Disney property) and poof! the FP+ selections disappear.

I think this is good. It's not just Fastpasses this impacts. It's impacting hotel reservations and probably deals too.

I thought their system was already supposed to handle it that way. The FPs should be cancelled.
And Brownie is right - it also has to impact hotel reservations for folks who actually intend to stay.
I also agree - if IT is making a change like this, I hope it's well tested and doesn't mess up other FP or reservation stuff!
