What are you surprised that Disney doesn't do as well as it should?

They allow it to exist because it is a popular attraction, especially with kids.

My kid also likes that attraction at the fair where you ride down a slide on a burlap sack. That doesn't mean Disney should have one, especially if it takes up massive amounts of real estate. :-)

Using this logic, Disney should also close just about every attraction in Fantasyland. They all take up alot of real estate, and are loved by kids.

As I said before the Speedway is popular. Also from an operations standpoint it is very reliable, in that one ride vehicle breaking, doesn't bring down the whole attraction. When a breakdown does happen the cast memebers push the broken vehicle backstage, and replace it with a working one.

I like someone's idea of redoing it a bit. I'd love to see a Formula E (often advertised as racing of the future), FE colors are tron like. Course, they'd have to put in electric cars.. If they did hybrid, they could do Formula 1, and a huge international following.

Actually, I have heard rumors that they are planning on changing over to eletric cars. Just have not heard a timeframe for when that will happen.
