Reservations & Magic bands
I have 2 questions for you astute Disneyphiles:
1. Is it true that if you do it directly through Disney, you can make a room reservation 1 year in advance (does this include park tickets)?
2. I bought a souvenir magic band 2 years ago (the old kind without the removable disk). It was never linked with any account. Can it be use in a future trip? Can it be linked somehow to an account on my next trip?
Thank you very much. Our next trip is planned for Dec. 2018...after Toy Story Land opens.

1. Yes. You can reserve far in advance, and purchase your tickets now (before the next price increase !)
2. A "definite maybe" on this one. The only "maybe" is if the internal battery has not died. And there's really no way to know until you arrive and they test it at the front desk. It can be linked to your account through the My Disney Experience app.

Even if the internal battery has died, the band can still be used for everything except getting ride photos on a couple of the rides (7DMT being one of them). That function requires that the long-range RFID chip which needs the battery. All the other important functions of the band - opening room doors, tickets, FP+, PhotoPass, charging purchases - use the passive RFID chip which is powered by touching the band to a "Mickey Head" at a tapstyle or POS terminal. So your old band will, for all practical purposes, last forever as long as it's not damaged.
