Congratulations and best wishes! I think you could take them any season, but I understand your wanting them to be consistent. We just got married in May and did our engagement photos last July as well. We had beautiful weather for our engagement shoot and dismal weather for the actual wedding. Our engagement photos were outside on a beautiful summer evening, and all our wedding photos are inside and the one we got outside is grey and drizzly. So it goes to show you just never know. I think if you take your photos in the fall you will be fine, but maybe stay away from making the theme be autumn. Like, don't pose with pumpkins next to hay stacks wearing orange plaid (unless you want to, of course!). Maybe find a park with a lake or go to the beach if you're close to the coast.

Congratulations! I would say do them any time of the year that works for you. In fact, having them done in a different season will give you more variety for photos that will be great memories.

It never even crossed my mind to have our engagement photos done to along with the season of our wedding-honestly it wouldn't have worked out anyway, we were engaged in late October, and married in September.
But our engagement photos were done in January, in the freezing cold. We were sitting on snow, wearing winter coats. My poor photographer was 8 months pregnant. We were married in September, it ended up being a 90 degree day. We had a huge photo for guests to sign, and we were in winter coats with rosy cheeks from the cold.

Wedding planning can be stressful enough... don't worry about this!
Like others said, you might want to avoid a holiday-ish session if you're not having a holiday-themed wedding.
Remember, your life together won't be just in the season that you got married- make memories in all of them :-)

I wouldn't worry about when you take your engagement photos. A lot of people get married within a few months and don't have time to take their pictures during the season their wedding is in. Also, people probably won't be looking for their wedding attire until next year when the stores have the newest spring looks out.
I had a travel assignment in Virginia for 9 months. It is beautiful country. I can understand why you would want pictures outside but having them taken inside is always a consideration if this is something that stresses you out too much.

I have a fortunate update: our pictures were taken and it ended up being a hot, beautiful, sunny day! Phew, no more worrying about that!
