    Default Magic bands

My in laws are going to Disney World and they are staying off site so they won't be receiving Magic bands. Can they use mine and my husbands from our previous trip? Or do they need to purchase some of their own?
    Thank you

If you go onto my Disney Experience, you will see your Magic Bands are associated with you. I don't believe they can be reassigned to someone else.

Linda is correct, once a band is linked to your account in MDE it cannot be used by someone else.

Actually the answer is yes, but it takes a little work. When my mom went to heaven this year, I wanted to use her magic band, since it had her name inside of it. I took it to city hall in the Magic Kingdom, and they were able to deactivate it from her account and assign it to my account. It was not a super fast process, but they were able to do it.

That is lovely! I'm so glad they were able to make it work. What a nice way to have your Mom with you at Disney.

Sorry for your loss. I think they may have made the switch due to the circumstances but it's not a normal occurrence.

    This from Disney:
    Q. Can other people use my MagicBand or card?

    A. No. Your MagicBand or card is unique to you and only you are authorized to access the benefits associated with it—including linked tickets, FastPass+ experiences, touch-to-pay purchases and other entitlements. Once a MagicBand or card is linked to your Disney account, it cannot be transferred to another person.

Normally, magic bands cannot be reused by others as has been mentioned. Like most things, in certain circumstances they make an exception to the rule.

They technically do not need magic bands. Their tickets will be on cards that have the same rfid chip in them and function just like magic bands. Since they are staying offsite, they won't be able to use the magic bands/cards to make purchases so their only use is entering the park and for entering a fastpass line if they use them. So I personally wouldn't waste the money on buying magic bands unless they plan on visiting more in the future and not staying onsite (if they stay onsite in the future, they will receive magic bands with their package).
