Given our really late night on Monday, decided to let DS wake up on his own and have a lower key morning. We had breakfast at Pop and were on the bus headed to Animal Kingdom by 10:20. We went straight to Dinoland to get DS his ride on a triceratops (finally...it was a request from this summer and both times we tried, a thunder storm started which closed it down). Then we were off to Africa, and walked into the drummers performance so we stopped to spend some time dancing (the drummers are one of his absolute favorites from both trips) and then took the Wildlife Expresse to Rafiki's Planet Watch. We saw Rafiki there and DS asked to take pictures with him. We visited with teh goats in the Affection Section and then head back to Africa. We strolled through Pangani, DS asked to use his own camera to take pictures. (Before the trip we bought him a toddler camera, and he was enthralled with the idea of getting to take his own pictures.) He was very excited to take pictures of the birds and fish and hippo. We also got to see the gorillas. There are two young ones, and we got to see them both.
Then we were off to Epcot by bus. We decided to do a loop on the monorail because DS had not ridden the monorail yet...he'd been very patient with us. We went through security to get on the monorail and DH got selected for a random screening with the metal detector. We rode the monorail and went through security again and DH was again randomly selected.
We did the Disney Visa meet and greet, and were pleasantly surprised both by the lack of any line whatsoever and the really great interactions with Minnie and Pluto. We were able to get DS past his fear of Pluto’s whiskers during this interaction...after a very enthusiastic greeting of Minnie, Pluto was surprised by DS’s reaction to him, so I explained the poky whiskers, and Pluto used his “paw” to touch his whiskers, then had me touch his whiskers and then very carefully reached out and took DS’s hand and had him touch his whiskers. After that, Pluto was able to get a hug and a great big smile.
We had dinner at Biergarten because DS had such a good time there over the summer. We wandered the World Showcase to get some more School Bread to bring back to the room for a midnight snack and then were off to the buses for an "early" night. Our neighbor on the bus was chatting with DS, and asked him what his favorite part of the day was. He said his favorite thing was getting to take pictures with his camera.
