2017 Itineraries Announced
CELEBRATION, Fla. (April 12, 2016) – In 2017, Disney Cruise Line will sail on new itineraries and to new ports, including first-time visits to new destinations in Alaska and Europe. That summer, Disney Cruise Line also returns to Norway, the British Isles, the Mediterranean, the Caribbean and the Bahamas.
Bookings open to the public April 14, 2016. More details on the newly announced itineraries can be found on the Ports and Itineraries for 2017 page of disneycruise.com.
New Alaska itinerary: Icy Strait Point and Hubbard Glacier
For the first time, Disney Cruise Line will take guests to Alaska’s Icy Strait Point and Hubbard Glacier. These dramatic locations are part of a new nine-night itinerary on the Disney Wonder. Departing from Vancouver, British Columbia, on July 24, 2017, this itinerary also sails to Ketchikan, Juneau, Skagway and Tracy Arm Fjord.
Icy Strait Point offers a variety of Alaska nature adventures, including a zip line attraction that is one of the longest and highest zip lines in the world. Nearby, Glacier Bay National Park is a spectacular highlight of Alaska’s Inside Passage and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Another highlight of this cruise is seeing Hubbard Glacier, the largest and most active tidewater glacier in North America. Displaying extraordinary blue hues and immense beauty, this spectacular glacier is more than six miles wide where it meets the ocean.
A new seven-night Alaska sailing from Vancouver, departing July 17, 2017, includes a call on Icy Strait Point, in addition to Tracy Arm, Skagway, Juneau and Ketchikan. On Aug. 2, 2017, the Disney Wonder will sail its first five-night Alaska cruise from Vancouver to Tracy Arm and Ketchikan.
New Europe destinations: Amsterdam and Stonehenge
For the first time, Disney Cruise Line will visit Amsterdam, Netherlands, known for its elaborate canal system, tulip fields, windmills and world-class museums housing works by Rembrandt, Vermeer and Van Gogh.
On May 13, 2017, the Disney Magic embarks on a 15-night transatlantic crossing from Port Canaveral, Florida, to Copenhagen, with a stop in Amsterdam along the way. This itinerary also includes a call on Portland, England – another first-time port for Disney Cruise Line. Portland is a short distance from Stonehenge, the prehistoric ring of standing stones monument that is one of the Seven Wonders of the Medieval World.
A visit to Amsterdam also will be part of a 10-night northern Europe itinerary that departs June 18, 2017, from Copenhagen, Denmark, to Dover, England. Other ports on this sailing include Warnemunde (Berlin), Germany; Stockholm, Sweden; Helsinki, Finland; St. Petersburg, Russia; and Tallinn, Estonia.
The grand tour of Europe continues throughout the summer with limited engagements in the Baltic, Norwegian fjords, Iceland, British Isles and the Mediterranean.
New Disney Fantasy itineraries: Southern Caribbean
For the first time, the Disney Fantasy will sail from Port Canaveral on longer itineraries – new 10- and 11-night cruises to the southern Caribbean.
On June 17, 2017, a new 11-night itinerary will visit Aruba, Barbados, Martinique, St. Kitts, Tortola and Disney’s private island, Castaway Cay.
On June 28, 2017, a new 10-night itinerary will call on Aruba, Curacao, St. Kitts, Tortola and Castaway Cay.
More Castaway Cay
Castaway Cay, Disney’s private island in the Bahamas, is consistently rated a top port-of-call by Disney Cruise Line guests. To give guests more time at this island paradise, select Disney Dream sailings from Port Canaveral will include two stops at Castaway Cay.
Special five-night sailings, departing June 2, 11, 16, 25, 30 and July 9, 2017, will call on Castaway Cay twice and include a stop in Nassau, Bahamas.
Special four-night sailings, departing June 7, 21 and July 5, 2017, will visit Castaway Cay twice, also with a stop in Nassau.

Oh gosh, I am drooling over the 10 and 11 night Southern Caribbean itineraries! I have wanted to do one of those for a LONG time, but I don't want to sail on the Magic or on any of the ships other cruise lines have doing that itinerary. I am ALL about the newer, bigger ships. My only hesitation is that they are in summer which will be SO HOT down that far south...oh, and the $$$$.
Who knows, though, I might pull the trigger on one of them, or one of the 5 night Double Dip Dream cruises if the price of the 10/11 night ones make me faint. Our first cruise in 2012 was a double dip dream and we LOVED it. Perfect length and 2 days at Castaway Cay was awesome.

I agree. If you've ever been on a Disney cruise (or other line for that matter), even a 7 day cruise just flies by. I can't wait until Thursday to see the actual itineraries, prices, etc.
Why can't I be wealthy and retired? It would be so much easier to choose.
30+ trips; DCV owner at Beach Club Villas; 4 Disney cruises; 2 trips to Disneyland

Too bad so few double dippers... Those are great. And the 10-11 would be nice if I wasn't going to Hawaii already. I'm sure the price will make you faint for sure! Typically we're in the $1-1.2K range per day for a family of 3, so about 12-13K! Ouch!

So what's the truth about 2017 DCL prices hiking way up? Trying to pay for the 2 new future ships?
We sail in 30 days on the Fantasy. Usually we re-book our next year DCL cruise while on-board.
WELL if there is any truth to the 2017 sailings being way over priced, not that the are not high already, I see our cruising future being less if at all with the mouse. Sure I do like the DCL ships and treatment but I've experienced as much if not as good and better service close to a 1/3 of DCL prices. AND that was while reaching Brand-X's peak "aqua-concierge" level. NO I'm not a bargain bin cruiser...but in no way will I overpay just to be on DCL.
Keep up the great work Disney while concentrating on the 1 and done folks. Its no secret that DCL is a huge cash cow. Maybe they should create 2 new characters? ding ding ding... "Money-Grab" can begin to appear in the parks at special meet n greet areas and "Cash-Cow" can be on the ships. For $15 each you too can get a pic with them. SORRY FOLKS no phone pics tolerated...these pics cost extra.

So for discussion sake... Off the DSL website, 2017 8-13 day cruises...
Prices STARTING from, which means inside stateroom, and based on double occupancy
9 Night Alaskan - $5622
10 Night Mediterranean - $6556
10 Night Northern Europe - $6805
10 Night Southern Caribbean - $7836
11 Night Norwegian Fjords and Iceland - $6748
11 Night Southern Caribbean - $8132
12 Night British Isles - $7002
Checked the Southern Caribbean and it prices out at $12000 for us, which is about right on the money. I don't see much of a price increase on these.
The premium over other cruise lines has always been there. They don't have a casino and I'd guess that alcohol consumption is a bit less than other lines due to the family nature of the ships. I'll be the first to call a spade a spade, but in my experience, they do a much better job on the customer service department than other lines, blows the parks out of the water (like Ritz Carlton vs Lancaster Motor Inn). There are a lot of firsts for DCL that I do think they are allowed to consider themselves a premium cruise line.
Now, if they start dropping the ball, you're right there are other cruises that you can spend much less.

For discussion sake...
Our yearly/normal Dream Cruise with Verandah for 4 days is approx. $1700 USD rounding up a little less the gratuities. For 2017 for the same - now it's $2200.00 USD rounding down alittle. Same room and same time of year etc and less the gratuities. AND this not during peak, if there is such a thing - meaning no holiday or spring break time frame.
A jump that much...
Will they be brushing my teeth for me and "plus'ing" the service to warrant the $500 bump?
YEAH....not so much.
Looks like I'll be shopping. Unless the on-board booking has a pretty deep discount - which I'm not counting on.
Thanks DCL!

The increases are crazy and don't make sense. I mean, I get that prices will go up. But why by such a large percentage? None of the other lines have such drastic increases unless you are talking about new ships.
The onboard booking discount is only 10% right? Hardly worth it. If you are a Costco member, they offer about that much as a cash card incentive.

Yea normally 10% discount to rebook while on-board from what I recall. And the deposit at that time is less too vs. if you booked thru an agent. Usually we are almost a year out from the next cruise...May to May but I'm not sure booking that far in advance is any less off of the price.
Friends of our who cruise with us get a little different room. Their room was $1900.00 rounded slightly down less gratuities. Now their room - again same time frame etc is $2436.00 less gratuities.
Basically per the math both US and our friends are looking at a 30% bump.
Call it premium service? No I call it #gougingcausetheycan
My thoughts now...we may book it while away...put the deposit down and then shop for another cruise line. If we need to cancel the DCL so be it.
I expect a slight bump yearly as we have tracked each year since we've been on DCL. But 30% in a year? No way, based on what???
And wait till the DVC'rs get their bump. They already have to trade in a lot of points to convert to DCL. I've friends who've done it and complained about the exchange rate. No doubt its headed their way too.
