First Look: ‘Rivers of Light’ To Debut April 22 at Disney’s Animal Kingdom
From the Disney Blog:
Today we’re happy to share that Disney’s Animal Kingdom’s first-ever night-time show, “Rivers of Light,” will officially debut at the park on April 22.
The show, set on Discovery River in the Asia section of the park, will depict an ancient lantern festival guided by two storytellers who call forth four animal Spirit Guides: an Asian Tiger, Tropical Turtle, African Elephant and Great Horned Owl. These Spirit Guides return at different points during the show to lead the audience through their journey through the Rivers of Light.
Check out the video below to get the first look at some of the illuminated lanterns, water screens, moving fountains, light projections and other amazing elements that will be featured in “Rivers of Light.”

Does anyone have any good guesses on when they'll update their park hours to reflect the night time shows? I'm currently seeing that AK closes at 6:30 on that day. I don't think it'd be dark enough for a light show at that time.
I'm actually looking towards my trip in August and getting later dinner reservations at Yak and Yeti, but with the park currently showing that it's closing at 5:00 I can't find anything later thant the reservation that I currently have.

I was also wondering about expanded park hours here. I heard a rumor they were going to offer a night time safari. Also I don't recall but is there sufficient lighting on the pathways to support being open in the dark?

There used to be later hours (after dark) at AK, so I would think (yes, I know all about assuming!) that they would not have removed the lighting they had in place. I would also expect that, knowing what they had planned, there has been additional lighting added, where needed, during construction phases throughout the park.

Yes, and I think it is the most beautiful of all the parks at night....Think nighttime in Adventureland but on a much larger scale.

Will dinner packages be available with priority seating for the show and when? ( like Fantasmic)
Thanks!

Hooray! This is my wife's favorite park, and has been since it opened. I'm very excited to know that we will see this wonderful new show together in May, with my daughter, her husband, and their two babies. I'm sure even the kids will be thrilled with this show.
"I wanted something alive, something that could grow. Something I can keep plussing with ideas. You see? The park is that. Not only can I add things but even the trees will keep growing. The thing will get more beautiful every year."

Is there any chance of a soft opening before April 22?
