Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend Trip Day 7
I was up at 3:15am on Sunday, January 10, 2016. I ate part of the runner's breakfast box I bought at Riverside Mill on Saturday and headed to West Depot to catch a bus to the marathon. A bus was there and I was able to get on it.
There were a lot of people at the marathon! I took my time making my way over to corral E. It was almost 70 degrees F and humid (it had rained before the marathon). They started the marathon shortly after 5:30am and I crossed the start line around 5:40am.
By mile 2 I was soaked with sweat thanks to the humidity. I could feel the blisters forming due to my socks getting soaked from sweat. By halfway, I was pretty miserable and started having to walk more than my 4 minute run 1 minute walk routine. I saw Sharon and Mark outside the entrance to Hollywood Studios (around mile 24). It was cool to see the characters along the route; I only stopped to have my picture taken with Phineas & Ferb. They had a few animals out along the route in the backstage area of Animal Kingdom. I ended up finishing just under 5 hours, which was only about 30 minutes off from my 26 mile training run. I was hoping to have done better but I met my 2 main goals: finish, and finish under 5 hours.
I went back to our room after the marathon. I laid down for a couple hours. I had planned on us going to Magic Kingdom; those plans got canceled (along with our Fastpasses) about 2pm. We did get Fastpasses for Magic Kingdom for Monday, though the app was showing availability for some things that ended up not being available. We ended up with Fastpasses for Space Mountain, Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin, and Under the Sea~Journey of the Little Mermaid.
We had a 5pm reservation at Chef Mickey's that we did make it to. We drove to the Ticket & Transportation Center and then took the monorail to the Contemporary. We had a good dinner at Chef Mickey's; we've only been there once before and that was for breakfast.
We browsed the shops at the Contemporary before taking the monorail back to the Ticket & Transportation Center and driving back to Port Orleans Riverside. We stopped to fill up our mugs and get some things from Fulton's.
We returned to our room and got everything packed, since we were heading to the Magic Kingdom in the morning. We were off to bed once everything was packed.

Just catching up on your reports. Congratulations on your finish and meeting your goals. Sounds like you got the last of the good weather because Monday turned quite chilly.

Curious as to why you didn't just park at the Contemporary with reservations at Chef Mickey's? They have to still allow that, right?

Cool! I was thinking that but in the past, we did it the other way around. Park at Contemporary. Eat, then monorail from the Contemporary to TTC, then Epcot round trip, then Resorts back to Contemporary. But anyway to get the Monorail is a good way!
