Marathon weekend, pre trip and arrival day

For the past three years we've traveled down for marathon weekend. On those trips, we have always stayed for a week to 10 days. However we had already taken our children out of school for a trip this fall, so this was going to be a quick weekend. My husband decided to try the goofy challenge for the first time, and I stuck with the half marathon. This trip was also going to be a little different in that we had annual passes, but his mother and grandmother did not have any park passes. So we planned to spend quite a bit of time just hanging around the resort.

My husband and I, along with our three children (ages 3 1/2, 5, and 7), flew out of Pittsburgh on Thursday night. We safely arrived at AKL, where we were greeted by my husband's mother and grandmother. They had flown in from Louisiana earlier that day. We were staying in a two bedroom villa, standard view. However, we had an amazing view looking out over the Savannah. We quickly gave the kids baths and got them to bed, as they were running the kids' races the next day.

If you're going to spend a lot of time at your resort, an amazing view is a nice bonus!!
