Default Cellular Phone and Data Services Available Aboard Disney Cruise Line

Cellular Phone and Data Services Available Aboard Disney Cruise Line

Beginning Sept, 23, 2015, guests who have AT&T as their cellular provider are able to purchase cruise bundling packages to save on cellular phone service costs when sailing.

These new cellular cruise packages will work onboard the Disney Cruise Line ships, as well as in ports of call when traveling on cruises to Canada, Mexico and The Caribbean. In addition, these packages provide guests with a more affordable option to stay in touch with their family and friends.

Guests can purchase these packages directly through AT&T before they leave for their cruise, or on board while cruising. Packages will start on the day of sailing and will be valid for a month. Charges will be billed on the guest’s regular monthly bill after using the package. The package will be automatically removed from the account once expired. Please note if guests are cruising on back-to-back sailings, they will have to sign-up again after expiration or depletion.

Pricing for the AT&T Cruise Packages is as follows:
    • Calling Package is $30 – Includes 50 minutes
    • Calling and Messaging Package is $60 – Includes 50 minutes, 100 messages
    • Calling, Messaging and Data Package is $120 – Includes 50 minutes, 100 messages and 100 MB of data
To add one of these packages, please call: 1.800.335.4685 or +1.916.843.4685
If guests are using AT&T as their carrier they can find out information at www.att.com/cruiseships. If they are using other cellular carriers should contact their provider to obtain information on rates

That's cool. Allows for a better way to communicate onboard than those outdated wave phones.

Awesome...the kids can Snapchat at sea! (And the parents post on Facebook.) Actually, it's pretty cool to have if you absolutely need to stay connected.

100MB of data isn't enough to be snap chatting and Facebooking, I don't think. Maybe enough to check email a couple times.

I went through about 150mb on my last 7 day just with email and occasional Facebook, so 100 is definitely not enough for teens. LOL

Agreed! I'm convinced that the service providers have a stake in Snapchat. It's probably the number data **** in our family. What's wrong with texting?

I'm just curious as to why in the world would anybody need cell service on a cruise.
Unless you have some type of job that requires it, but yet again- what can you really do from the sea? How in the world did we survive as a civilization before the invention of the portable phone, we did pretty well I think.
Personally, I absolutely love the fact that nobody in our party is connect while on board, its the only time they don't have their faces in their phones!

Well, a few reasons I can think of. First, you can use your cell phones while onboard and in port to text each other. The messaging capability in wave phones is unreliable.

Second, sometimes parents cruise without their kids. It is nice to be able to communicate with them at home.

I was thinking, using the cell service for calls, facebook and email. Wasn't thinking about texting. We use the Cruise app for that. We also don't travel with kids.

There are mixed reviews of the messaging via the app. It depends on the ship wi-fi which can be very unreliable. You also have to open the app and manually look for text messages...it doesn't use audible notifications. That would result in a LOT of missed texts in our family.

Also, being able to text while off ship could be handy if you split up. And just being able to use your network data in port so you can navigate using maps, use apps like Yelp to find good places to eat, etc.
