Need your opinion
We are planning our next trip for February and we are talking about where to stay this time. We had decided upon Coronado Springs, but we are now second guessing ourselves. My daughter threw Port Orleans - Riverside in the mix. We haven't stayed at neither place. So I need your help in deciding. Tell me your pick and why. Thanks for your help!

Coronado doesn't have the Disney feel in my opinion compared to the other resorts. It is a convention hotel and caters to events more than resort guests there to vacation. This is just my opinion. You might love the place.

We're big fans of CS - love the look, the feel, the pool, and the food options. We've never had any bad "convention" experiences. The resort is large enough. But I will tell you, POR is also an exceptionally nice resort, too. It'd be a toss-up for us, but probably would lean toward CS.
-
We've never stayed at CS, but tend to agree with the others. We've always thought of it as a convention hotel. Not that there's anything wrong with that.
For mods we've only stayed at CBR and PORS. CBR was nice but big. PORS isn't quite as big. Their pool area is awesome. Their food court is nice a roomy. They've got Piano Bob at the River Roost. And they've got water transportation to DTD/DS.
Lots of great perks at PORS! Good luck!

We love POR, both Riverside and FQ, with the FQ getting a percent higher in our voting. For us, it's the laid back, shaded walkways that bring us back each year. We love to run along the river in the mornings just before sunrise and passing by a few heading to ME, or a worker cleaning or clearing something. The smell of the food court gearing up for the breakfast goers. POR has a deluxe feel at a moderate price.

Need your opinion
I am a big fan of Coronado Springs. While it is not "in your face" Disney, it still has a Disney feel to me. Yes, there is a convention center, but there are also convention centers at Contemporary, Grand Floridian, Yacht and Beach Club, and Boardwalk Inn. I have run into more convention attendees at the Boardwalk Inn than at Coronado Springs! Having a convention center also provides you with additional amenities, such as a fitness center and more than 1 sit down restaurant, which are not available at any other moderate.

I've stayed at both and really liked them both. If you can get a preferred area room at one and not the other, that would decide it for me to cut down on the walking.
Or, if you can get a business class room at CS, stay there. Best location for getting to everything at CS, and the bus stop there is the last one before you leave for the parks.

Coronado Springs is a great resort. Although there were conventioneers there when we stayed, it didn't really impact us. We'd be staying at Coronado Springs again for marathon weekend if our son hadn't wanted to stay someplace he hadn't stayed before.

Another vote for Coronado Springs. I have stayed there a number of times, both on business and with the family for pleasure. We decided to stay there again next month when we come down on October 31st. When there on pleasure never had any issues with any conventioneers. They usually start their day early and end late afternoon and are in the convention section of the hotel so don't let that scare you away. Only time you would come in contact with them is in a restaurant.
Another vote for the overall atmosphere, the pool, the Pepper Market.
Good luck with your decision.

Hmm. Tough one for me. I like both resorts but I think I'd give the edge to Coronado Springs.
Here are some things to consider.
Size -Both resorts are large. You could have a decent walk at either resort.
POR has two themed area- mansion and bayou. You can not guarantee either section unless you pay for preferred (bayou) or royal (mansions). Some people have very strong feelings about the two themes. Bayou is rustic. Mansions have a southern plantation feel.
CS has three sections - Casitas, Cabanas and Ranchos. Casitas are an old Spanish feel. Cabanas is beachy and Rachos are southwestern ranch feel. Ranchos is the furthest from the main areas. The only guaranteed location here is Casitas when you book preferred.
Theming-
POR is southern plantation/bayou. The mansion section is beautifully manicured with lawn and mini gardens. The rest of the resort tends to be heavily wooded. There is a very cool waterwheel at the quick serve. You also have the river running through the resort.
CS is situated around a large lake. Each section has a distinct feel. I personally think CS is one of the prettiest resorts. The different architecture and landscaping are beautiful to photograph.
Amenities-
POR has the boat to Downtown Disney. It also has POFQ next door. It has one of the nicest stores, a decent sit down option, a great bar with entertainment and one of the best quick serves.
CS has two sit downs, a unique quick serve, a small quick serve with gelato , a bar/club, a hair salon and a fitness center. It has a decent store with some southwest items.
Pools- Both resorts have nice pools with slides. Totally different theming so it depends what you like. The pool quick serve at CS serves breakfast so if you are further out you do not have to go to the main area for breakfast.
Convention wise I have never had a problem with any convention attendees and barely know they are there other than occasionally noticing people dressed up with name tags.
Either resort is a great choice.

Have never stayed at Coronado Springs but absolutely love Port Orleans Riverside. That is where we stay every time we are there. Love the peach and tranquility of the resort. There is (or was anyway) boat rentals and Carriage rides you can take for a fee. There is a free boat ride to Downtown Disney which is always nice and relaxing. They have a great restaurant at the resort and also a wonderful food court and great pools and evening entertainment in the lounge area of the main building. We have always stayed in the Mansion side but looking to stay in Alligator Bayou our next stay which is very rustic. There are bridges to get you over from the Mansion areas to the main pool and main building with restaurant, food court, and lounge. We love that we are within a short walking distance of Port Orleans French Quarter and their Beignet's. We have walked over there a number of times to get beignet's for breakfast and then grabbed a bus to a park afterward. Just love everything about Port Orleans!

We stayed there on our last trip. It was a very nice resort but to us it lacked that Disney feel. It just didn't feel like we were at Disney.

I prefer Coronado Springs over Port Orleans, for many of the reasons already listed. I love the theming throughout the resort, all the fountains and gardens. And the pool area has a huge hot tub, the largest on Disney property. So many of the other resort hot tubs are so small that just a few people lounging in them or kids playing in them makes them feel very crowded. But the Coronado Springs hot tub rarely feels crowded.

Respect your opinion, but totally disagree. We stayed there and like it. Liked the theming....and never got the feel it was a convention hall. Except for a couple of men wearing suits one morning at breakfast I saw no one who didn't look like they were on vacation.
Side not...we just stayed at the French Quarter and like that place also.

Port Orleans is beautiful. I like Coronado too. But Port Orleans has something special. More family friendly. Plus better restaurant.
-
Coronado is definitely my favorite moderate! It's the more interesting of the bunch, in my opinion. Confused why it doesn't feel Disney-ish to some, I feel like it's a wonderful Disney experience.
