Default Book a package or separately?

We are planning a short 2 night 3 day jaunt over to Universal in December. The only other time we went we stayed off site. This time we are staying at Cabana bay. It looks like it is cheaper to book the hotel through a site like Priceline and get tickets via Official Ticket Center rather than book a package directly through Universal. Is that typical? I don't know all the ins and outs of Universal booking.

I booked our room separately through a travel site and used one of their discount codes to get 15% off. I then purchased our tickets from a separate ticket broker. It worked out better for us to do it that way.

Smart thinking, I have also been thinking about staying 1 or 2 nights at Universal. This may make it affordable. If I may ask, where do you find discount codes?

I just booked a package, with military rates. Depending on the dates, it was sometimes cheaper to do seperate.

I used a discount code that I found online. A lot of times they are listed on the site. If not, I googled it and found one. This is how I booked our last " room only" Disney room as well. In addition to the 30% discount that Disney was offering, I was able to get an extra 15% off.

I booked our room separately from the tickets, but there were some great specials in the packages as well. So, do it both ways and see which is the better deal.

Thank you, I'll look around to see if there are any discount codes.
