Default Late september vs Middle October?

We will be returning to Disney in 2016, and because The Ryder Cup is coming to town our school district is shutting down all schools for 1 week.
We normally go Mid October for 12 days, but are going to go Late September since the kids will only miss 1 week of school out of the 2 weeks we are there.
it's been 14 yrs since we went in September, and to be honest we were very clueless about Disney.

    My questions are:
    1. Is it super hot &humid the end of September?
    2. Does it rain a little everyday, or almost everyday?
    3. Will the Food and Wine Festival be as crazy busy as it is in mid October?

    Thanks for all your help

We usually go the week before the food and wine festival and the crowds are not bad. Last year they started the food and wine festival a week earlier and the crowds were pretty bad. It is still hot and humid mid to late September but crowds are more manageable - not to mention free dining.

Definitely still pretty hot and humid at the end of September. You don't get the afternoon thunderstorms every day like clockwork in September, but they do occur. Crowds are better at the end of September than October. Over the last 2-3 years October has become absolutely insanely crowded. The F&WF does drive crowds up, but generally just on the weekends and evenings. If you go to Epcot, avoid Friday night and Saturday plus any evening (after about 5 pm) and you'll be good. With the number of MNSSHP's going on a large number of folks come over to Epcot for the festival in the evening once MK closes for the party.
