Warm Weather Getaway, final thoughts
Since our trip I have gotten over the loss of our magic kingdom day. Since then we all suffered (are still suffering) the flu.
Resort -was wonderful, great view and set up which was the best we could have had in lieu of a one bedroom at BCV
Restaurants - these were ok, the stand out meal was off property at Bahama Breeze. We got compliments from other diners on how well behaved the kids were but It was hard and stressful. We switched to food courts and we got sick, but that could have happened at a restaurant too, and we don't know if food caused it.
Airline - amazing Southwest staff took care of us at the worst moments ever for our family
Parks - we had one awesome park day in AK. Otherwise, it was tough for us with two little kids. It was too much, actually.
We have a lot of good memories from this trip, kids melt down, kids get sick, taking care of them is a lot of work wherever you are. I really enjoyed the views from the room while I was doing just that. We tried to be flexible, adjust plans, go at their pace, work in breaks, but this of course requires a certain amount of letting go. I miss the honeymoon days and look forward to when they are a bit older...
Next vacation will be at a rental beach house...we are going to enjoy the ocean...

I'm sorry your trip didm't end well. Does sound more like the flu then food poisoning though. You're 4 year old may have been coming down with it at the beginning which made him out of sorts. Glad some good memories snuck in here and there.
Speedy recovery to you all!

I was too lazy to take little ones. Our youngest was 9 when we first went to WDW as a family. The patience it must take to slow down in the parks. Glad you had some fun. Too bad you were disappointed with the dining. It does sound like the flu. I would think with food poisoning you would be sick at the same time. Hope you all get well soon.

Despite all the difficulties you encountered on this trip, I do hope you have some fond memories of the fun, and special moments.

Disney is so very different with child(ren)... honeymooned there in 1991 and did not go back until 2000 when DS was 27 months old. We did not have the challenges that you did at every turn this trip.
I hope that you all are recuperating from your illness and give Disney another try! Thanks for sharing your experiences with us!
