    Default Going solo

I am a 62-year-old woman, who loves going to Disney World...but my husband does not. In May, a friend planned to join me, but then decided she could not. I am a Florida Passholder. I went by mself. The trip was great.

Fast forward to last week. I made another trip by myself to take picture of the fabulous Christmas decorations. I went to three out of four sites, not making it to Animal Kingdom, staying for a day and a half (I only live 1.5 hours away).

If you are thinking you would not have fun alone...think again. I am not sure I EVER want to go with someone else...except perhaps my son and his daughter.

I casually wandered through Epcot, enjoying all the countries and what they offered for the season. I think Italy was most beautifully decorated. I had fast passes and did Soaring first thing. My fav.

By 2 p.m., I was at Grand Floridian, taking pictures of this gorgeous hotel and the Gingerbread house. Bought gingerbread to take home.

Headed to the Magic Kingdom and got there just as the 3 p.m. parade got to the entrance. I have seen it three times before, but love it. Not disappointed this time either. Had a bite to eat and then rode the train around the park. It is a great perspective.

Had dinner reservation at California Grill. Got there just after 5 for my 7:15 reservation. I was taken right up and had a lovely table ready for me. The food is unparalleled. Tuna four ways is my go-to appetizer.

By this point, my old lady feet and legs were tired. I took a cab back to my hotel from dinner; stayed at All Star Sports. With tip, taxi was $25. Did I say how tired I was?

For this day, I cannot say enough about how relaxing it is to be alone. One of the buses I boarded was only me and the driver. I said when I boarded, "Well, guess it's only me and you!". He called me Princess and welcomed me. As we took off, a recording came on saying, "We have royalty on board! Please welcome the Princess!". I am not a young woman, but it was fun to hear that. I shook his hand at the end of the trip, after having a fabulous conversation with him. Really made me feel special.

If you have not tried a solo trip, because you did not think it would be fun, I disagree. I love my solo trips. Try it! You may like it!

I just completed a part-solo, part family trip. It was the best of both worlds. It was great to be able to go at my pace and do what I wanted to do. I had some great conversations with fellow travelers, everyone was so nice. I have also done a solo trip to DL and wouldn't hesitate to travel solo in the future. Glad you had fun too!
