Default BC Studio Villa vs. BC Standard Room for Honeymoon

    Hello all,

It's finally time to actually sit down and book our honeymoon and I'm completely torn between two options. Way back when we first started discussing it, the Poly was our first choice. The construction soon caused us to change our plans, and we eventually decided on the Beach Club.

We were perfectly happy getting a Standard view room, and then my eye wandered over to the Studio Villa and I started playing around the idea of booking that if it was available. Neither of us have stayed at a DVC property before, but we thought it might be interesting.

Here are the pros and cons of each:

    Pros of Studio Villa:
    All have balconies
    Quieter
    Less expensive
Close to the Breezeway and Drawing Room

    Cons of Studio Villa:
    Smaller rooms
    Tacky furniture
    Away from Crescent Lake

    Pros of Standard Room:
    Closer to Lake and Lobby
    Prettier furniture
    Slightly shorter walk to Epcot

    Cons of Standard Room:
    Possibly noisy
    More expensive
    Might not have balcony
Might have a view of the parking lot

I'm just not sure when we get there what will be the most important thing to us. I know we will at least want someplace quieter. The Yacht Club doesn't appeal to either of us, so that rules that out as well.

    What do you guys think?

It's your honeymoon. I would go for a king bed, in whichever situation gave me that. King bed and giant soaking tub, even better. But maybe that's just me. I guess that would be a 1 BR if you were going villa.

The tacky furniture wouldn't bother me. If you want a view, pay for the view. Pay for everything you want in the room because there are no guarantees of any upgrades, and it's worth it for a honeymoon trip. Even sometimes when you pay, you don't get quite what you envisioned. But you don't want to look back and think, "that trip would have been perfect except..."

As far as going with a villa or a standard room, I don't think anyone could tell you what would work best for you. For a honeymoon, though, I would want to be close to amenities with the potential for room service. I wouldn't be too quick to rule out YC. It's much more adult in feel and you might get a nicer room set-up. I haven't had great luck with rooms at BC. I've never felt more overrun with kids than I did at the BC, either. Kids everywhere running amuck. Not that I have a problem with kids and I expect them at Disney, but they seemed to fill every available BC space and it wasn't very conducive to romance.

Just a heads up, I remember reading that Beach Club Villas were getting a complete hard goods refurbishment sometime starting in late 2014.

I've stayed in both and my preference would be the standard room. The regular rooms were bigger and I like the decor better. The villa building is close to Epcot Resorts Blvd so although you will not get a parking lot view you.could get a road view.

I think Sherri made a lot of great points.

Totally not trying to change your mind because we all have our own taste but what doesn't appeal about Yacht Club? I have actually enjoyed my stays there more than at Beach Club. Yacht is my favorite Epcot resort.

I would definitely choose the BC standard room over the BCV, having stayed at both in the past. And I wouldn't rule out YC too quickly either. Having stayed at all 3: BCV, BC, YC- I would actually choose YC as my favorite of the bunch.
