We've watched from there a couple of times, and it is a decent place to see from.

However, this is crazy expensive to stand around and drink some wine and have a few desserts. If I'm going to stand anyways, I can buy my favourite drink and snack and grab a good spot an hour before.

Sorry about the delay in posting, we had a crazy trip and I didn't have time to post.
The venue is Showplace Plaza, at the entrance to World Showcase. We were lucky enough to get an unobstructed view. The desserts were plentiful and very yummy! I don't drink wine so I didn't try it.
All in all I thought the price was high for what you got. I think it should be more in the price range of the dessert party in MK.

I think the price IS high, and if you don't partake in the wine, that makes it even less of a deal. You say you got an unobstructed view? Are there views within the party area that aren't as good? Thanks for reporting back!

The price is not that high considering there is alcohol served. I recall paying around that much for Fantasmic balcony seating at Disneyland about 10 years ago. Sure, we got chairs, but a huge tree obstructed our view. There were desserts, but no alcohol. Overall, we didn't think it was worth it.

How much is the Wishes dessert party, for comparison?

It would be nice if they charged less for this event for "desserts only" and maybe allowed you to add on the wine for an additional fee. Issue a wristband or something so they know who can drink. This way families can do this even if there are kids or non drinkers in the group.

That area is okay to watch from but there are obstructions (trees).

First of all thanks for posting. And I hope your trip was busy crazy not bad crazy

Second, It is correct that there are no seats just pub (high top) tables? Were there enough tables? were the patrons "happy, pleased, upset," etc with the whole setup?

Thanks again, since it's booked (and paid for) we will try it in June.

If you don't drink wine... I guess it would be very pricey.. basically a pre- paid fp with dessert. But, would you recommend it overall to someone who would like to have wine and dessert with a less "crowded" view of the show?

Thanks again,..(for being our Guinea Pig)

I personally wouldn't equate these two in any way. The Fantasmic! balcony experience was IMO special, unique and intimate, and this is well...Illuminations, standing against the same rail that everyone else stands against all the way around the World Showcase. It's no secret that I'm not an Illuminations fan, so no way would I pay more to do this, but was just curious for others out there who may be interested.

I'm curious if this will affect the 3D Dessert Party at Food & Wine. If I remember right we paid around $55 for standard seating. Reserved seating was an additional $35. You got dessert, wine and hard liquor in the indoor venue and it was sitdown. Then you walked to the same place the new party is being held to watch Illuminations. We really enjoyed it and planned to go this year too.

If people are willing to pay $50 for pub tables with dessert and wine, I could see them in increasing the price for 3D.

THAT'S WHAT I THOUGHT THIS WAS.... in fact my reservation still shows "World Showplace" the seated venue between Canada and UK.

You said earlier that you talked with a CM who told you it was at the Showcase Plaza.

If the names of the venues weren't so similar, it might not be so confusing. 😉

Yea, I know where it is now... but it still shows on my MDE reservation and on the Map of Epcot (zoom into the showplace and click on the knife and fork) It still shows up there... NOW.. It say's showcase.... but it still shows up on the map as at the showplace.

I'm just surprised they have not fixed it yet.

Thank you for asking, our trip was crazy busy.
The seating was just high top tables. There were not enough of them and some of the guests were quite upset. There were quite a few people sitting on the ground.

If you don't drink wine... I guess it would be very pricey.. basically a pre- paid fp with dessert. But, would you recommend it overall to someone who would like to have wine and dessert with a less "crowded" view of the show?
I would recommend it if you wanted a less crowded view of the show. It was nice not having guests try to push you out of the way so they can have a better view. My Dad is 83 and loves Illuminations, he had a fantastic view while enjoying some very tasty desserts. This made it worth the price for me.

How much is the Wishes dessert party, for comparison?
    I think I paid about $39.

It's all good... this reservation has been really trying. I want it to be nice for the DW and our 2 Daughters. (Our 25th anniversary is that week)

But if I keep he reservation and it turns out bad... sitting on the ground eating dessert for ~$200 I'm not going to feel very "Magical"

After some poking around I managed to find a youtube video from the first party. You can goggle Epcot Illuminations Sparkling Dessert Party at World Showcase Plaza and you should find it.

Sadly, I'm not overly impressed. For the price I think the selection is minimal at best especially for nondrinkers. If you watch the video keep in mind that there were only about 100 people present that night and according to the poster the capacity is 500 which seems over the top to me.

Yeah, I think my wife and I will pass on this and put the $100-plus dollars to better use. We're not big fans of Illuminations and the idea of fighting a crowd of people for drinks and desserts isn't very appealing.

I found another video on youtube that shows them making flaming desserts (not in the original video I think you saw.. not Mouse steps.) it's dated 3-22 and has captions add not just the classical music.

Size scares me... looks like 50-100 people there and some were sitting on the ground.. what will happen with 500??

I think they are still trying to figure out how to do this. When I was at Epcot last weekend with Christine and Mel, it appeared that it had moved indoors for the dessert part. There were cast members in the area between Canada and the UK with menus which made it appear it was in the function building there.

The area in between the two gift shops was roped off with a sign for the party but there was no one in it. It was around 8:30 and I didn't see any food stations. There were cast members with lights and menus along the path between the two locations which made it appear that it started at one location and moved to the second for viewing but unfortunately I didn't think to ask.
