Default What ever happened to that steak place in Canada?

In the past, hardly a day went by without someone raving about that place. I don't think I've seen in mentioned in a long time.

Was the "Signature" distinction the kiss of death or what?

For most people on the dining plan, this restaurant was a good value when one only needed to use 1 table service credit to dine here. Now, not so much. I still think the food is excellent and on a recent trip thought it was the best meal of the trip. I thought about booking it for an upcoming trip but my husband wasn't keen on the idea - not because of the food - but because he doesn't really like the seating arrangement inside the restaurant.

I think it may have something to do with the fact that Be Our Guest has turned into THE ADR to get for a trip. There have been many posts about best strategies to incorporate BOG into your trip. (Lunch vs dinner, FP+, etc). It seems to be established that you have to call Le Cellier very far in advance and keep trying if you don't get what you want at first.

I can't comment on the food because I have only had the soup during Food and Wine because we rarely plan trips more than 6 months out.

When it changed to a 2-TS credit meal, it became much easier to get ... since people just didn't want to spend 2 credits.

It is still good, but now that it is easier to get, and for those on the DDP, less of a value, the craziness around it has lessened.

The last couple of times we ate there, we made our reservations while we were on site and had not problems getting a reservation just a day or two out.

We are not on the dining plan so I guess that change was good for us. We love it. And our DS7 just wants to eat pretzel bread for dinner!

Best meal of our recent trip (and we also ate at Shula's). I agree that 2 TS credits has affected whether we eat there, last trip no dining plan. While waiting to be seated a gentleman walked in hoping to get a table (down poured shortly before dinner), The hostess told him they were booked solid and experienced less than 1% cancellation rate. So, still quite popular apparently.

Random question…has anyone ever gone for just appetizers and dessert? I really want the soup and creme brûlée, but the entrees don't interest me as much. Wondering if anyone else has done this.
Believe in the future, the world is getting better, there is still plenty of opportunity.

We ate lunch here many years ago, when there were different menus for lunch and dinner and enjoyed our meal. We haven't been back since, but, I have friends who eat here on every trip and rave about the food, so we decided to give it a try.

We made Dinner ADRs 180 days out for our May 2014 trip. We don't take advantage of the dining plan (too much pre-planning and too much food ) . We will be using the TiW card and we're looking forward to eating here.

We loved it for one credit, not sure if its worth two credits...so that's why I think its not as popular.

I was hoping with the change to a Signature dining that they would have removed a table or two so that you weren't squeezed in like a diner. It definitely takes away from the enjoyment of the meal when you feel your neighbors are seated at the table with you.

Not worth 2 TS credits to me - I has pasta there and while it was good it's not worth the money.

I don't think they're experiencing any problems with packing the place full.

I was unable to get a single ADR there for our entire 10 day trip this past December.

    I'll try again for October.

The seating arrangement is one of the big reasons we do not dine there often. When it is just my sister and I, it is not that big of an issue. Now that my Mom usually travels with us in her wheelchair, dealing with the seating configuration would be frustrating.

Perceived value and quality of food.

Going from 1 TS to a signature dining classification was the death nail.

As other stated under the old 1 TS grouping the entrée, dessert and drink offering made it a perceived high value, even though most dining guest would then add an appetizer and a bottle of wine doubling their bill, but now they want to charge you twice as much and give you no more than before and you still add the appetizer and wine for an incredibly overpriced lunch or dinner.

We went last trip (opting to pay out of pocket and not use our dining credits) and our tab ended up being almost $300 with tax and tip for just the DW and myself.

NOT WORTH IT. We'll go back to the California Grill from now on.

We went here for just appetizers & desserts in August with no problems. They claimed we wouldn't be able to get the pretzel bread without ordering an entree too but that was not actually the case.

I do have to say I have been kind of disappointed in it since they changed the menu (like the poutine) & upped the cost. I honestly can't say it is worth it to me any more

    Red face

We ate there for dinner for the first time in Dec and loved it! We do not do a DP and pay all of our meals OOP.
