(1) lining up vendors for food/wine/flowers
(2) premium events for above "celebrations"
(3) lining up reunion/tribute music acts
(4) rinse and repeat
I suppose Disney is just following the money on this, but unfortunate how far off course this has gone. It is so far off course that most of the guests don't even know what it was supposed to be about anymore.

There is the crux of issue. All of the information I have read about the plans for World Showcase that since the planning stages was that these countries would be a joint effort between the countries (or businesses in these countries) and Disney. Many of the countries no longer have any corporate participants. As an example, I don't think Canada has ever had one.
If you want WS (and Future World for that matter) to be updated as was discussed on the Insider podcast, the powers that be in charge of Epcot need to start obtaining some corporate sponsors. Once you have that money, it can be used to update, build new countries, etc. Look at the Flower and Garden and Food and Wine festivals. Both have strong sponsorship which has allowed for these events to grow larger. Now whether you like that these events have gotten larger is a different topic, but these events would be gone or greatly reduced in size without corporate sponsors.

I think Australia would be a very interesting addition to WS.
I would love to see FW brought up to this century to feel more like it is looking into the future rather than being a bad Buck Rogers imitation that some of it now looks like.
