When are they going to add something new to WS?

I love World Showcase. I spend more time there on my WDW trips than I do anywhere else, outside of the MK itself. I love the food and drinks, and at night time its beautiful to walk around in. I love Illuminations!

I was just wondering if anyone had heard any rumors or if they knew of any plans about adding something NEW to the World Showcase?

Haven't heard any recent rumors. However, I was watching some old "Dateline Disney" videos on Youtube.

One of them mentioned Russia coming to Epcot, and another mentioned Switzerland with a Matterhorn ride. It is interesting that they made a public announcement about it, but it never happened.

Since that time, Morocco and Norway was added.

I did the undiscovered future world tour at epcot and they mentioned that Russia was supposed to be another country but they switched presidents and couldn't come to an agreement.
Also heard Africa was another possibility as well as Switzerland but nothing materialized. Wish they would add more countries.

There was a rumor about Brazil not too long ago, I believe local news even reported on it. Then it just faded away.

....technically they did "add" something. They made Maelstrom a "Major Tier 1 Attraction"...

I always thought that the Caribbean Islands would be a great 'country' in the World Showcase. With all the different cultures there's plenty they could do.

We discuss this on our most recent podcast. Although Epcot will always be the #1 park for me (maybe for nostalgic reasons), I do agree a few new attractions would go a long way here.

A new country would be great but in my opinion, money would be far better spent in the neglected parts of future world. It is turning into a run down wasteland up there.

I also think that [IMHO] America needs redesigned a bit. I hate to say it as an American, but I'm disappointed that there wasn't more "culture" in the American Pavilion. We have such a diverse history and culture.

I'm surprised they didn't do some kind of TS restaurant like Taste of America. So many great "flavors". Southwest, Cajun, Soul, Southern, famous NYC pizzas, Philly cheesesteaks, New England seafood dishes, etc.
Could have been so much more. Are we really only known as burger and fries food?

While I do like the American Adventure show, goodness what they could have also done to theme an Old West Town in a portion of the pavilion. Or some Southwest adobe style village. Bayou section?

I don't know. Seems like I'm "Imagineering" a little too much

The emphasis appears to primarily be about:

(1) lining up vendors for food/wine/flowers
(2) premium events for above "celebrations"
(3) lining up reunion/tribute music acts
(4) rinse and repeat

I suppose Disney is just following the money on this, but unfortunate how far off course this has gone. It is so far off course that most of the guests don't even know what it was supposed to be about anymore.

....it's in direct contradiction to the whole FP+ / MDE+ thingy ...where, with all the "free time" they created, they keep you moving ...towards the "light" ...(aka: food, merchandise vendors & cash registers)

You're undoubtedly right about that. But I think it's also an evil plot to do us in before we make it around the lagoon - aaaaaahhhhhhhhh.

.....but ...seriously .....Epcot ...and the World Showcase in particular, are our favorite park and "portion" of WDW. I don't think another country is needed in the WS ....nor do I think it 'works'.

.....I may have stated this before on INTERCOT ...but the "empty" spaces between countries ...act like a "sorbet' or palate-cleanser. After you leave one country ...you get a breather ...before you encounter the next one. I think that adding countries in the present "Green Space" between the existing ones ....is over kill.

I think if they would change some of the movies in the countries that have been there for so long would be a nice change. Add a small ride land for children, bring back the original Figment, and add Brazil or another S. American country to the WS. Extra sitting would be fine.

good point, my family is always tired by the time we reach the model train exhibit.not enough shade or seats.
