I know it is a long way off, but we just got back from a mid September trip, and January 2015 is when we are planning the next trip. (We always seem to go in September around my older daughter's birthday, and my younger daughter has figured this out, and wants her turn for a birthday in Disney, so January 2015 it is.) Can someone tell me what the crowds are usually like... a better/ worse time of the month? Her birthday is the Jan 11th... but we don't have to be there ON the day... just the month... what is the weather like? The latest we have ever been is the week after Thanksgiving... and we were in t-shirts and capris with a sweat shirt at night. What is the least crowded time in Jan?

We love the very last week of Jan. It can be cool, but last year was wonderful. Definitely sweatshirts after dark, but we swam mid afternoon. We had very few lines, even walked on the new little mermaids. Also, good rates for resorts.

Crowds have increased significantly in January. There are many tour groups who visit during this month. The groups are very large and tend to travel together from ride to ride as a group.

Weather can vary from downright cold to quite pleasant.

I usually travel in January and the only thing you need to be aware of is the weather.

Usually you have 1 week of "cold" weather each year, and if you are "lucky" you will get it.

I was "lucky" on 2012 and we watched Illuminations at EPCOT with 32'F! We all tried to buy whatever warm clothes Disney had to offer...

Also, you need to be aware that riding Splash Mountain can be a "health hazard"...

In any case, I always have a wonderful time in January. I hope you enjoy it too!
