I am and always will be a binder guy. Everyone (DW, DM, 2D's and 2S's) thought it was funny until they so how easy it made our first trip.

They always place the following in the clear plastic front of my ever-faithful binder before we leave:

"One binder to rule them, one binder to bring them all, and into WDW bind them."
    5/21 SSR & BCV
    11/19 Copper Creek Villas
    5/17 - Boardwalk Villas & Swan
    10/14 Legacy Villas
    10/11 & 12 Coronado Springs
    1981 - 2010 Offsite
    1974,76,78 Fort Wilderness
    8/87 - 05 Disneyland

Ha, I usually have a spreadsheet, color coded. If we have a large party, every day has a working plan specifying a theme park or the occasional down day. It includes times of rope drop, closing, fireworks, parades, etc. And I like to make sure we're not in a park with extra magic hours.

All plans are subject to revision, but this is our point of reference for batting around the alternatives as a group. It allows me to relax and mostly go on cruise control during the trip.

First, the planning is part of the fun. I love it. Technology has changed my approach a bit. Today, I bring a folder that has a day-by-day itinerary, all ADR confirmation numbers, payment receipts -- basically anything I think I'd need if I didn't have my phone. But all I really need now is my smartphone.

In the past, I've traveled with our folder, as well as a palm-sized, quick-reference notebook. It would have our daily confirmation numbers and times. It would also have park hours, events, even the location of where I parked the car at he airport.

It's a nostalgic fun evening when I take it out and DW and I re-live our past trips.

I use a Powerpoint for all our planning information, including a slide with a calender showing the EMH's, ADR's, and special notes, etc. in different colored fonts for each day. I take a picture of the page with the calendar and use my iphone to zoom in on anything I need to see. I do this for my kids' school activity calendars all the time and it is great.

Also, I'm excited to use the Disney app for the first time on my iphone. For some reason, it didn't work last time we went.
