    Default Big River Grille

Can I get some reviews on this? We are planning to eat there on our upcoming trip but I'm not sold yet. Would you mind either selling me on it or warning me about it?? LOL

    THANKS!!

We ate at the Big River Grille last August, and I am posting my less than stellar review.

Big River Grille – The BoardWalk

Atmosphere: I think eating outside on the Boardwalk would be nice in the evening, but we ate indoors at the ridiculously small tables. There was no atmosphere at all. 1/5

Food: We shared an order of standard pub food nachos to start. I ordered a salmon Caesar salad, because the room we had overlooked the outdoor seating at the Big River Grille, and people had been ordering them all week. I’ll just say that they look better than they tasted. The salad was basically romaine lettuce with far too much dressing. The salmon portion was good, but it was a bit over cooked. Perhaps it had been pre-cooked then reheated. Brian had a house beer and the pulled pork sandwich, which had the opposite problem from my salad, it was very dry, and lacking in sauce. Harry had the Hickory Bacon Burger which he enjoyed (A burger is a burger, Mom!), and Euan had a kid’s cheeseburger. 1/5

Service: In all fairness, our server was fine. She was friendly and efficient and did a good job. 3/5

I can honestly say I will never harken the doorway of the Big River Grille again. The food was horrible, and the seating area inside was cramped and lacklustre. Overall rating – 1/5

This is just my opinion, perhaps others will come along to give you others.

I've had a couple OK meals there. Basic "bar" type stuff. But once I had a very bland and dry burger with a bun that wasn't fit for a backyard picnic.

I have to say that Big River has less atmosphere than any Disney place i can think of. And after a mediocre meal years ago, i was unsure about going back during my trip last week. But..... i'm glad we did.
Had dinner one night and we liked it so much we went back for lunch on our last day. We had Chicken Alfredo, Atlantic Salmon and NY Strip. But the Flame Grilled Meatloaf was the real standout. Really tasty!
We also enjoed lunch, but the Kobe burger is very lean, meaning dry. FYI.

We will keep Big River on our repeat list.

We've eaten there twice and had good meals and service each time. We prefer to eat outside.

It's not fancy food by any means, but if you stick to something basic, it's good. Kids meals are generous and much better than the stuff Disney offers at other restaurants, so that's a plus for us. It's one of the few places on property where my son can get Kraft macaroni and cheese, which is what he prefers.

My husband likes the beers there, so we go for some good beer and a decent meal in the Boardwalk area. It's on par with the ESPN Club.

While I have never eaten at the Big River Grille at Walt Disney World, I do want to point out that Big River is not a Disney Restaurant. It is part of the Craftworks Restaurants and Breweries company that is headquartered here in Chattanooga, TN. It is as Disney as Wolfgang Puck's or the Swan/Dolphin hotels. The reason that I haven't eaten at the WDW location is that I always want to eat somewhere that I cannot eat at home when I travel.

That being said, the beers should be good and the food your standard pub fare. If you like the genre, then you'll do fine. If you are looking for a Disney Signature experience, you need to look elsewhere.

It's been a couple/few years since we ate here. We were seated inside with a view of the beer viewing vats - that part was a bit creepy as there was an overflow from one of the vats which was a bit reminescent of the old "Blob" movie - not sure if anyone else will know what I'm talking about!!

However, the food was surprisingly good. We both had ribs which were more than ample in portion size and good.

Overall, it was good but it would never be on a "must do" list for us.

I had ribs too, Linda. I liked them a lot. The server offered a half portion when I mentioned I wanted ribs but was not that hungry. It was not on the menu and I thought it was nice of her to do that. $13.99 is a great price for half rack of ribs with two sides! They were much better than the ribs at Flame Tree BBQ, for around the same price.

I also appreciate the ability to eat here without an ADR and with minimal, if any, wait to be seated.

as others have said, it's fine. nothing spectacular but if you can sit outside on the boardwalk on a nice night, it only adds to the experience. we stay at bwv or bcv so we try and hit it every other trip at least.

    Default Big River

Our home resort is the Boardwalk and we always have a meal here. My husband and I usually share a meatloaf dinner, plenty to share and we never have been disappointed. Looking forward to December's trip and another stop at Big Rivers.

We ate there years ago. It was nothing to write home about and I guess that is why we've not been back. DH liked it better than I did

We ate there on our '07, '08, & '09 trips so there's been menu changes since then.

Our first time I had the salmon which was cooked perfectly but nothing worth bragging about flavor wise. I also had the hummus & pita chips for an app. It was my first time ever trying hummus & I was hooked. Since then I've never had any that was better than BRG's.

The following year they had a chef's special which was swordfish with a gran marnier & pear reduction. Talk about delicious! This always sticks out as one of my most memorable meals in WDW.

Our last visit to BRG in '09 was just so so. This time the food was less than average which was a shame because we had a table out on the boardwalk during sunset so the atmosphere was great. I guess the food experience this time caused us to subconsciously overlook it when planning for ADR's. But I do think we'll return on our next trip on a DHS day since I've become tired of 50's prime time.

So overall I'd say the food was average but more recent reviews than mine should help you decide better. Beer is obviously the highlight there. If you enjoy craft/micro brews, I say it's worth the visit.
